I was there in 2005, I've seen many dams but this is my favourite, infact it was my first time in Germany and I've been back most years since I love the country and most things German, I've stayed at the sorpe in Langsheid and by the Bigge at hotel schnutsgauhof, I could write a book about my travels in Germany, love it, and thanks to all the lovely helpful Germans I've met.

I was there in April 2023, and it was coming up to the 80th anniversary of the "Katastrophe." I toured all 3 dams that week, and I can honestly say it's a stunning place and the people who were working on memorial events were so friendly.

Same happened at Lake Sorpe, the guy who sells me weed had an aunt living there. One of the bombers overshot the dam, bomb landes in their backyard. Blew the whole house away, they were in the basement luckily. The whole neighborhood came together to help them rebuild. P.S. : Sorpe and Möhne are in the same region.
