Just read Utz by Chatwin and loved it. Had no idea Herzog had made a documentary about him. What a treat!

Saw "Meeting Gorbachev" at the Nuart and afterward there was a Q&A with Werner. I have tickets to this film, and again Werner is doing a Q&A after. Such an artist Werner is, thinking of films from Fitzcarraldo, to Grizzly Man to Cave of Foregotten Dreams (and SO MANY OTHERS). Mr. Werner Herzog is wonderful and amazing and so very down to earth. A beautiful man.

i read Nicholas Shakespeare's Chatwin biog. excellent. you don't get much closer to the man, whose books with the exception of Utz, are in my opinion, very overrated and Songlines too, not a little controversial in its conception. i hope this doco deals with this and not just to mythologise Chatwin. then i think you have something special.

I was forced to read his novels in university in the nineties. Vastly overrated. Probably because he kicked the bucket so young.
