Can JWST Detect Alien Megastructures? Brian Greene on James Webb's Discoveries

Embark on an exhilarating cosmic journey with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) as we unravel the enigmatic tapestry of the universe. Hosted by Brian Greene with a riveting narrative, this video catapults you a million miles from Earth to explore ancient galaxies, delve into Jupiter’s moon Europa’s potential for life, and marvel at gravitational spectacles like the 'Einstein Ring'.

Discover the groundbreaking revelations made by JWST as it peers through cosmic fog to shed light on star birth, unearths carbon signatures on alien moons, and traces the cataclysmic lifecycle of stars.

The JWST isn't merely a successor to Hubble, but a cosmic voyageur transcending as a time machine and a detective, unveiling the universe's hidden realms.

As we journey beyond the early galaxies and our solar neighborhood, we probe the profound question: Are we alone in this vast cosmos? The JWST’s quest may inch us closer to intercepting a cosmic signal or spotting a glimpse of alien megastructures.

With every image and data it beams back, we’re not just witnessing the universe as it is, but feeling the pulse of existence beyond our earthly realm. This video isn't just a voyage through space; it's an invitation to find our place in the grand cosmic narrative. Ready to step into a realm where science meets imagination? Venture beyond the known with us!

Nicely done. And thank you for actually including Brian’s Greene’s relevant comments, rather than click-bait title.

Fermi paradox why no aliens. Everyone is forgetting these telescopes are showing us the universe as it WAS.. not as it IS right now.

When I consider that our human evolution is maybe only a million years old, I can well imagine that there are other, much more developed creatures in space...
I also think it's good to find such enormous distances in our universe. Especially when I see places like Gaza or Ukraine, it pains me deeply to see humans fighting with others... Exactly the same thing could happen with other living beings from other planets, no one can give us a guarantee that they will be peaceful. And if one were to find mineral treasures such as diamonds and gold on the alien planet, then I would immediately think again of Gaza and Ukraine... our brothers and sisters are also difficult to assess...

05:44 As we journey through space with the James Webb Space Telescope
07:54 well you know I think it'd be better to have this conversation after the James Webb Telescope
09:26 the James Webb Space Telescope is not just a Marvel of human engineering but a voyager set on a cosmic Odyssey with each Revelation

The problem is and will always be distance. If you look into space you look back into time. The best way to imagine this is that if aliens were to look at earth from a few million light years, they would see dinosaurs walking around the planet. No human/technological society would be detected.
So maybe there are a lot of advanced societies out there, but we’re looking at their past, so we can’t detect them.

Humanity needs a turning point just now. As we destroy our biosphere.

01:53 it is incredibly exciting and not just to scientists artists from around the country have been inspired by the Grandeur of this instrument and by its potential to give insight into questions ranging from how did the universe begin when did the first stars form are there signs of life on other planets
02:28 the James Webb Space Telescope made a Monumental Revelation when it discovered 717 ancient galaxies and offered us a glimpse into a youthful Universe bustling with star formations these galaxies emerging as early as 600 million years after the big bang were active

I think theres other life out there, its just nearly impossible we are the only ones

Even if we detected a planet that may harbour life within our galaxy we'd never be able to explore it. Humans would need many decades (or hundreds of decades) to develop technology that could reach out that far. By that time it's likely that the Earth will have been destroyed by nuclear war or decay. Even if we avoided such a likely event, the distances involved would make even android travel too far and too long to be worthwhile. Unless we can first save our planet from over population and decay we'll never evolve into a galactic travelling species.

00:07 the really biggest ideas because it spans not only trying to understand the cosmos but to explore the cosmos to observe the cosmos to measure the cosmos in ways that we have never done before of course I'm talking about the James web Space Telescope you may recall that it launched back on Christmas Day 2021

01:16 the James web Space Telescope our new window to the cosmos is set to revolutionize our understanding of the universe this Marvel of Technology soaring a million miles from Earth is more than just a successor to Hubble
01:30 it's a giant leap towards uncovering the Mysteries that bind the stars with its incredibly sensitive instruments

03:40 if one could give an answer to that question that allowed you to sort of draw a line in the sand between the not living and the living then perhaps we would have the Insight that we yearn for and trying to say what is so special about life

They keep saying the Big Bang didn’t happen but reference it often

First of all dinosaurs were not around a few million years ago. 2nd of all a few million light years away would be a different galaxy considering the Milky Way is about 100, 000 light years across

Well they made no news of any type of life found in the universe let stand on our solar system. Than to think it will cover it all and being this distant from most suns, planets and whatever out there, leads me to suggest. The mission failed to be the turning point, for investigating whether we are alone in the galaxy or not. So next try please!

A clickbait it seems. Megastructures question is adressed in just a few seconds and not really answered..."We don't yet". It could be more honest to talk about it the whole length of the video or changing the title. Informing others is important not misleading them.
