You say sorry when you hurt someone, not only when you do it purposefully. If I accidentally step on someone's feet, I say sorry, even if it was accidental. This is what most of us teach our children. Not knowing is not a reason to not say sorry.

I remember the aftermath of Caitlin Upton's brain freeze at the Miss Teen USA Pageant. For several years afterward, a YouTube search for "dumb blonde" resulted in Caite's brain freeze being one of the first four videos (often the first) suggested, followed by a deluge of the same video in the next fifty or more hits. A Google image search for "dumb blonde" gave the same results. Thanks to Kayleigh McEnany on one hand, and AOC and Kamala Harris on the other, people have stopped telling dumb blonde jokes. I wish Caitlin Upton the best.
