Lyrics:
Creep and crawl until you fall into that old dark room
Where you left your sins and all of your friends
Staring back the old man's lies as he watched you drown
You get up and you just splash around

Never really knowing why, they won't understand
As you hang from the tree with that look of despair
Pulling out your guns and blast another round
Oh, one of these days you got your, you got your crown
Woah oh, oh, woah

I want to be the very best
Best there ever is
The quickest draw
The toughest motherfucker in these lands
I want to be the very best
Best there ever is
The quickest draw
The toughest motherfucker in these... lands

Going around every day as I shoot away
Taking 'em on down to their knees to pray
Make my way up to the top, as I knew I would
Being a gunslinger is a glory and goddamn, goddamn it's good
Woah oh, oh, woah

I want to be the very best
Best there ever is
The quickest draw
The toughest motherfucker in these lands
I want to be the very best
Best there ever is
The quickest draw
The toughest motherfucker in these... lands

Well I got my wish, I was the best
The only problem is
I'm laying on the cold cement
With a bullet... in my head
In my head
In my head
Now I'm dead

Woah oh (x4)
Woah oh (x4)

Finding this group was the happiest accident I have had. From a pure metal head, these guys are awesome!!

THIS is what country music sounds like. Not this pop drivel I hear relentlessly at work. God bless these guys. May they have a long and fruitful career.

Danny's cello sounds so fine. Almost makes you cry without even a word.

Excuse me..YouTube? Can ya’ll not put a double ad in the middle of a song? That’d be great. 👍

I wish this would be played on country radios because this is what country really is.

The song is amazing, but the cello part at the end is just epic. Makes me feel like drowning my sorrows in some whiskey. I need to write a story to this song!

A moment of silence for those that will never find this.

I'm grateful these guys were born a few hundred years late.

Wow, the more the song progresses, the more haunting the vocals get and the sound evolves into something so enthralling ... indescribable beautiful )))

Never in a million years did i think i could stand listening to a band in this genre of music and enjoy it. I think the genius in their songs is their originality, it's totally their genre of a blue grass with punk, dark humour, great lyrics delivered to perfection for their songs. The more songs by them I listen to the more it amazes me how much i love them. I think they're starting to get the success their hard work deserves as i cant get a ticket in the UK to see them for love nor money. For a band playing this type of music to be sold out everywhere in the UK is unheard of.

One of my absolute favorite songs of all time. The violin/strings (espsecially at the end) are out of this world. must have heard it 100+ times by now and it's still as good as the first time i heard it! ~ From Denmark

A Masterpiece of Bluegrass, Folk, Country--- it's like seeing and listening to novel or a movie about a gunslinger. MARVELOUS!

I am a metal-loving maniac. I typically don't listen to a lot of country but Johnny Cash, Willi Nelson, Hank Williams, ETC. But GOD do I love me some Dead South. These guys are fucking KILLER! Great music taste to anyone that listens to them.

Man I thought I was a weirdo, coming to love these guys as a metal head... I can see though, I was greatly mistaken.. tons of peeps here in the same situation, and just like me, stumbled across them by happy accident.... I am sooo stoked right now though.. checked their website last year thinking I would get some tickets to get see them as one of the only three concerts in my life I will have gone too (yes, I am picky) and they weren't playing anywhere in the US at anytime soon... so signed up for the notifications, thinking maybe one day I would get lucky... Well, today was that day! Just scored a ticket to their Norfolk, VA show on 02.17.2024 and can't freakin' wait!!! Rock on all!

My brother brought me here. This song is so deep with its ups and downs and great musical composition. Brings tears to my eyes. Much love to The Dead South!
