Repair My Snare #3 // A Couple of Rogers Dynasonics

Ive been hanging onto these Rogers Dynasonics for awhile now and its time to repair them! The 14"x6.5" only had some cosmetic damage on the shell and hardware. I removed the dent from the shell and replaced the damaged hardware with parts from a Rogers SuperTen (chrome over steel). The 14"x5" also had a dent and a REALLY messed up batter side hoop. While I was at it, I added a fresh snare rail and correct bottom hoop. Which one did you like the best? The Rogers Dynasonic is a classic chrome over brass snare drum that is a great drum for any sound! I also had to break out the Tama Superstar for this one 😎

I have a Rogers Dynasonic 5 x 14" COB snare drum. It is a great drum but difficult to tune properly..they have a very narrow 'sweet spot'. Mine is approximate 1970 manufacture early Fullerton with script shell badge. The snare rail concept is great but the secret is not to tension the snare wires too tight and adjust the rails so that they just 'kiss' the reso head.

That rim expander 8000 is genius! I have a slightly warped ludwig snare hoop that's finally going to get straightened.

Wow! ...that 6.5 is EXACTLY what those songs sounded like. For a minute I thought I was in middle school again lol

The huge one! I have built a 14x9.5 stave snare from pine and it is a disco and rock ballad beast!

I like the 5" a little better. I'm rebuilding a 6.5 now. Maybe it will come out as good as yours!

I like the 6.5. I wonder how it would sound tune medium high? Also, what kind of difference the sound bar at the bottom would make. I recorded on a 6 ply ludwig kit with a 5.5 dynasonic and that kit ripped but usually that extra 1 of depth can drastically change the sound and feel.

Help!!!
I offered to clean up a R-380 for a friend… but wondering if you have a video for replacement of the bottom head???
I’m very impressed by your work so I’m sure you’ve encountered one before (but I have not).
Suggestions? Recommendations?
Warnings??? Lol
Thanks.
