I’m actually wanting to add ports for some programs I use. Could you do a deeper drive on that? I use pkg so I’ve been wary about doing that since I’d be mixing compiled and source.

How can I figure out what system components to use for a FreeBSD system? Say I want to have a certain amount of RAM, several hard drives, a video card that can drive multiple large displays, 1 gigabit or 10 gigabit LAN, maybe multiple LANS, etc. Where can I look to see what components are on the "compatibility list?"
