Never though this day would ever come that cheap fast foods are unaffordable.

Went to McDonald's for the first time in 20 years the other day, as a new one opened right across from work. 10 bucks for 2 cheeseburgers, small fries and a Sprite. One girl working the "counter" which was a single register unit, and one guy sweeping the floor, no other employees in sight anywhere, felt like an empty movie set. I can go to the local pizza shop 100 meters from work and get a handmade meatball sub that is twice the size of both cheeseburgers for 12 bucks. Hell, the meatballs alone have more meat than 2 cheeseburgers. Everyone there knows me as "The meatball guy" as it's all I get, and they're all good kids, busting their butts every day I go in. Shop local, it's a lesson I never understood when I was younger, but now I see it.

McDonald's food is very questionable their service is terrible and then they raise their prices The only reason people went to McDonald's because they're cheap prices why would anybody pay $18 for a Big Mac meal that's insane

In-N-Out Burger has been paying premium wages to fast food workers and providing benefits and management training forever and they have kept their prices reasonable and have lines out the door at every location. Oakland was the first in history to ever close its doors and that was because of neighborhood crime. They keep the menu small and food is fresh all the time. I just happen to eat at mom and pop places more than anything else when not eating at home.

Coming out of facing alot, I knew two things about the stock market: It caused the Great Depression, and the fastest way to make a million on the markets was to start with two million. And then the Great Recession happened only a few years later. So yeah, I wish someone had better explained it to me earlier in life. Having a good entry and exit strategy will make you succeed in the stock market.

My wife and I owned a small sandwich shop. This was not a deli. We sold sandwiches, chips, and soda in a can ! All of our food was top of the line. Those who know restaurants will understand our food items took 35% of our gross. That's high. But the end item was great so our customer base was hudge. We owned it for 18 years, our goal was 20 years, and we almost made it. Believe it or not, this year, we were projected to make 1.5 million in a specialty sandwich shop...so why would we, in the end, sell our Goose that lead the golden egg ? I'll list them.. Remember, I'm in CA. Cist of employees pay, forced to pay for their retirement, our projection put us in a Tourist Tax bracket, this mean another tax that's another 14%, dammmm, overhead tripling, utilities doubling, service cost for comercial store tripling. If you call an AC man to fix your AC, your service call is about $160 just to show up. That might be higher now. It cost me just to walk through the doors about $500, then the troubleshooting, repairs, and parts. A bad temp sensor would end up costing me $1500 to $1800. This was about the same for all commercial services. Yeah, 1.5 million sounds good, but you got none of the revenue the state and employees got it. Even though the employees could not sweep a floor because they were never taught how to do it, constantly late, they wouldn't show up, would walk off the job because it was too hard; they said this. Repot anything to EDD, and then we would be investigated. It was a freaking nightmare. At the same time, our pay went down, he** I never took a paycheck. We couldn't remodel the shop. We were aging and couldn't find a manager, but we still tried even though we hurt ourselves. I'm a disabled Vet with very bad injury from the war, Gulf. My wife has gout so bad she couldn't walk. We finally sold, we believe at the right time, but lost our dream and all the work for 18 years gone. We did get a few things out of it to help when we are old and feblal...it's a sad story many small CA business owners are going through in this horribly ran state. We also put some responsibility on the voters that put these

Note: If my writing is riddled with errors, it is due to chemo brain, cancer I got from the war.

Why would I pay sit-down service restaurant prices to eat at a fast food joint?

rising cost of supply/beef/bread ? how come i can still make a burger at home for less than $1.50 a piece....and i buy everything at retail price...while Macd buys from their own suppliers at much discounted price than what i paid for all my ingredients at the grocery.? its just greed plain and a $3 burger/fries/drink labor included for $18 and they didn't even cook it in the restaurant on site...everthing was premade precut and they just put the patty and slap the whole thing together in the kitchen.

We're in a situation now where the people flipping the burgers make more than the people buying the burgers. There's no way this is going to end well.

In Michigan I paid $14.88 for a double fish filet meal with a .40 cent upcharge for a bottled water. This is way out of hand with the price increase.

McDonald’s Corp. is in the Real Estate business. It’s the franchise owner’s that have to try and keep their bottom lines in check to make a profit. The franchise owner doesn’t own the property or the building. The franchise owners have to pay McDonalds Corp.to use the company’s property, products and trademark. And after all that the franchise owner has to fork over 4% of their profits to the company. Fast food restaurants are out of sinc with reality. The food isn’t healthy or good and the price isn’t worth it anymore.

Am i the only one that thinks small business could easily out compete the big chains in the near future? They already make us check out our own goods. 3 cans of soda 3 small fri orders and 3 regular chzburgers for 33 bucks and i would be crushing mcdonalds

I don’t know how but you’ve managed to package an unbiased analysis that is more entertaining than the sensationalized segment of economic and financial news. Thank you for your efforts to be the signal and not the noise. I understand that the economy is currently in a downturn and that we must wait for things to get better

I'm relatively cost conscience, however, I did enjoy on Sunday mornings going to McDonalds and getting a sausage egg mcmuffin w/cheese, 2 hash browns, and an orange juice, for 4.67. Then, one Sunday I go in there, and all of a sudden it's 9.84. I literally cancelled my order and have not been back since.
