The Firebox folding stove is a stainless steel wood stove that needs no assembly. It is extremely versatile. It uses a variety of fuels and supports everything from a camp cup to a dutch oven.

Thanks for the demo Bryan, I know that when your trying to shoot a video and go through a process at the same time it can really complicate things. I've learned that unless you're grilling and need hot coals you don't really need to build up the fire before you start to use it. Once the fire is started you can put you pot or pan on and start using the heat. Also the Fire Sticks have a hooked end to hold the damper flap up when folded. That covers the one exposed sooty part of the stove. Then the folded Firebox is mostly soot free. Thanks again, Steve

i bought a sterno folding stove for $3 yrs ago, added a rafter plate cut to size to use as bottom plate made a pouch of scrap canvas tarp and have used it hundreds of times using wood, fire tablets, and sterno. nothing beats it for boiling water on the go.

Norm Cash Yes, $60 is not chump change, which is why I do these reviews- to help folks make informed decisions about stuff before spending their hard earned money.  And, just for the record, I have only recently got to the point where some companies are sending me stuff to review.  I still buy a lot, if not most, of the gear I review.  Just ask my wife ;-) In spite of what you might think, there ain't a lot of money flowing to most us YouTube creators from Google. Honestly, if there weren't some companies willing to put some of their marketing dollars into sending products out for review, there would be a whole lot fewer gear reviews on YouTube.  I hope my reviews are helpful, that's why I do them.  Thanks for watching this one. - Bryan

I have the Version 2 & the Nano, they're great products. I would recommend them to everyone (unless they're prone to burning fingers)!

I love this piece of kit because of its flexibility in cooking methods. Can't beat it, but it is a very sturdy hefty piece. I car camp, so no worries. Great job on the video, my friend.

I love mine, they are so nice! You'll notice when you unfold the box the ash pan will automatically pop off, no need to pull it off... Great review! I am sure will get good use out of it!

Chris:

The fire box and solo stove is apples and oranges.

Fire box is simply a wood stove. The Solo stove is a gassifier. Secondary combustion to get the most heat out of the wood.

Using wood stoves are ok in the South East, North East, and north west.

Here in the Sonoran desert there is not much wood unless you want to harvest the saguaro ribs. Or Nopal cactus pads.

The thorns and glockids on cacti and Nopal pads are something else.

I do have a method to my madness. ;-)

If you don't like the black coating on the outside of your pots from using a wood fire, you can wipe a thin film opf dish washing soap on the outer surface that is touched by the fire. (Keep it away from the pouring lip of your pot) Once done the soot  just wipes off with a rag.. easy.

Very cool stove. I bought myself an esbit stove last week, haven't had time to test it out in the field yet though.

How long will that white bag be white, is it still white? I know this kind of stove under the name "Bushbox" its about the same size, but also available in different sizes. Its a different design, also made of stainless steel, but weights only about 300 gram for about the same prize or less depending on region. Too bad you boiled water instead of grilling steaks. Good review and demonstration at all.

you showed the typical problem encountered when using a small wood fired cooking stove, having all your ducks in a row. sort of the Wok Cooking approach, have your cooking ingredients prepped beforehand and ready to go. thanks for showing this stove in action..
