Ciaaoooo! Sono Theo and I went on student exchange to Italy last year. Here are my best tips for a future foreign exchange student, and the things I wish I had remembered from the start.

Some of this may sound cringe or cliche, but the reason it's cliche is because it's so true! Implement these tips and you'll have the best exchange experience.

Good luck on your exchange, it's the best experience of your life. Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi, I understand that you went on an exchange in year 11? (correct me if I am wrong) But I was wondering if it affected your year 12 and HSC in terms of knowledge. I want to do an exchange but the age requirements for WEP means that I'll need to do it in Yr 11/12, making me a bit hesitant to do so. Any advice?

About tip number one, it depends a lot! If you'r going on an exchange to learn another language ( language schools) and not high school or university, people are so more open for new friendships and to hang out with you! People in those schools are aways arriving and leaving every week, so they are more used to new people! I just came back from an exchange program in London and on my first day after school people invited me to go iceskating than to the pub than cinema and all night long. And extra tip for brazilians: if you'r feeling alone, look for another brazilian in your school. I know you supposed to be with people from other places, but from minute one another brazilian will be your best friend. In my case i spend the hole time with brazilians, all the parties, museums, travel, xams and new year and still leaned a lot of english. Also italians are great to be friends with, idk why italians and brazilians goes so well together but they do.

Really want a part 2. You explain so nicely and you are so confident. I wish to come back from my Japanese exchange program being as confident as you.

My delegation leader had a rule when we where in germany: if you can buy it in australia, don't buy it here. If you can do it in australia, dont do it here and if you can see them in person in australia, dont talk to them here.
