4 of the 5 listed for Arizona are in the SAME metro area. :)

I live in Maine. I find it funny how Augusta, our state's capitol, is the tenth largest city and has been decreasing in population for years. They should move the Capitol to Portland or Bangor, but the process in doing so is too complex to really attempt, especially with our state's budget.

Wild to think that all of Minnesota could fit in my city's Statistical Metropolitan Area, and three fourths of it just in Harris County.

Kansas is surprisingly impressive, beating out alot of the mega states with those KC suburbs.

Cool video! It’s interesting how some of the largest cities in certain states are cities I’ve never even heard of.

Fun fact: New York’s second largest city is Buffalo, but the second largest municipality is actually Hempstead which has over twice the number of people as Buffalo.

I live in New York, and I've always known that New York City was the largest city in my state. I also knew that it was the largest city in the USA.

Fun Fact: There are 15 states where the capital is not in the top 5. (California, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Washington)

Kinda interesting how Jacksonville has almost 1 million people yet it’s not nearly as interesting as Tampa, Orlando, or Miami! Growing up I always thought Miami was the most populated Florida city

Error: Phoenix is more popular than Philadelphia

Always find it amusing how misleading some of these statistics are. Metro area is way more accurate than technical city limits. If you just remove the city signage, and you didn’t know better, a ton of those “cities” are really all the same city for any practical purpose.

The Fact that New York City alone has more than the other New York cities combined is crazy. There’s more ppl there than in entire other states, mainly the ones out west in the mountains, this is why everything is scheduled with East Coast time,

Even after studying maps and watching the Weather Channel, I have never heard of 62 of these cities in 39 states (actually counted), some of which have more people than their state capital.

A lot of people think Juneau is bigger than Fairbanks. What this list doesn't tell you is that the city of Juneau merged with the local borough for a municipal population of about 32, 000. Fairbanks city limits is about 31, 000. But our area is closer to 100, 000. So Fairbanks is by far and away much bigger than Juneau.
