The governor of the US state of Hawaii says over a thousand people are still unaccounted for. The wildfires on Maui have claimed 99 lives, officially. But search teams still have a huge area to cover. Many describe the scene as a war zone.

Firefighters say they have about 85 percent of the wildfires that begin almost one week ago now under control. Hawaiii's governor says crews expect to find between 10 and 20 more bodies per day, over the next ten days.

This is a crime scene. I was in the Witch Creek fire of 2007, which was the second largest fire in California history. The cause was power lines going down in the wind. Here we are, 16 years later, and the exact same thing happened again. It's inexcusable. They should have shut off all power when the winds approached the structural limit of the power line supports. This was completely unnecessary.

Jesus the narrator... it's not the accent, it's the complete lack of human emotions. He sounded like bad text-to-speech algorithm.

I'm glad they atleast mentioned that the billionaire class is always drooling over tragedies like this and trying to exploit them

A fire is harmless with no fuel. There are many ways to start a fire that cannot be eliminated. Fuel can be.

How can you not spot 1300 missing people in a surrounded area like a island? I think they drowned. May they RIP, they didn't deserve this.

So 1000+ still missing and presumably gone yet searching only has located 99 and 25% of the buildings searched. I think non expert Maui searchers overlook badly burnt remains. Plus, we must factor in the people nobody has reported missing.

The power grid should have been put underground long ago. You can bet there will be a real push to get all of Hawaii's grid underground now.

Poor people.... I am shocked how so many places burned but a Catholic church stayed standing even in that heat... May Jesus give all the souls a chance to say yes to him before they pass on.

I cannot fathom the mere thought of burning alive. How painful of an end.
