One of the only reasons i think that AAA live service games have player counts consistently in the 100, 000s is that they use stupid daily chores and FOMO. So a game like this that has none of that could still have just as many people that love it, but only play it occasionally.

HD2 is very fun, it just grows stale if you have no friends to play with...
Like every single multiplayer game out there.
So yea, calling HD2 "dead" is a BIIIGGG stretch.

This game was killed by a railgun nerf. that was the beginning of the end. Then Sony decided only certain countries could play it, and that was the final nail in the coffin.

Are games meant to be picked up played and put away? Who says that? I mean, marketing company's would love that viewpoint but it's essentially nonsense. If there was any connection to reality in that statement at all, World of warcraft, sea of thieves, gta v online, and ESO wouldn't be the towering cash mints they are. You have no idea whatsoever about what you're are talking about. The WHY matters here. the player count drop isn't the core reason people say this about hell divers. It's the 100 mile long cargo train filled to the brim with fuckups that's lead to the decline in numbers, not player interest. I imagine if a new developer picked up the game and remade essentially the same experience with sensible non knucklehead balancing, better stability and no attempts by sony to jam their spyware down everyone's throats, it would be another overnight success that would actually stand a real chance of holding a sizeable player base long term. Instead spreading misinformation on why people say that it's dead, do something else.

ive never seen a playerbase cry as often as we do im 378 hours in still enjoying it people just want to complain about anything and pretend they could do better

Way, way more people would still be playing HD2 if they hadn't borked the weapons and generally put tons of effort into making it less enjoyable to play for some reason. The devs flubbed this game and trying to act like this is all fine is pure cope

The problem is over half of the olayerbase which is nothing now are ignoring the narrative missions unless its a bug mission. As of now automatons are literally 1 sector from earth and EVERYONE IS STILL ON BUGS.
