The job i am on now has 300k sqft of fiber reinforced concrete that was guaranteed not to crack that they might have to remove and replace because of all the cracks.

Fiber been holding my 32' camper for a decade now, no cracks.

I don't think rebar in fiber do the same job. Piper's great for preventing cracks while drying and curing, where is rebar is great for preventing long-term structural failure across concrete's weak tensile plane.

Rebar is definitely overkill on a driveway. Wire meshes rarely installed with the proper chairs to hold it in the back spot. By the time you pour it the concrete in and walk around on it. Finish it. It gets smashed down to the bottom.

Everyone knows that fi-bar is better than re-bar. But a-bar is better than both of them!

The only fiber that can be used to replace rebar is steel corrugated. Fibrillated and monofilament fiber are to be used in conjunction with where rebar is necessary. It is never intended to be structural.

I like the way he spun around. Plus he "seen it but never heard of it". Perfect answer.

That depends on where you live because rebar is actually trash. Where I live the rebar will just rot out in 6 months and you'll have air tubes running through your concrete. We use that carbon mesh that was made by the Aerospace industry and is now installed in all skyscrapers

The concrete guy that puts a cold joint in every slab

Fiber is a reinforcement like rebar. It is sufficient for slabs on grade. Otherwise most contractors would use welded wire fabric.

The concrete used by the Romans they called hydraulic concrete. They never used rebar or metal at all because it would rust and split apart the concrete.

So if air and moisture makes steel rust and steel expands when it rusts and concrete is poured with water and when the water dries air pockets are left in the concrete why do we use steel to reinforce concrete

bro the genuine “no i didn’t. what did you saaaay?!” 😂😂😂

Fiber is not stronger than rebar, period. Fiber is just a cheaper option for non-structural concrete. Use a vapor barrier and some form of steel.
