Tried this yesterday for the first time. Been wanting to go here forever. I give it a 9.4, probably my favorite regular triangular style pizza in NY. My brother in law, who grew up in Astoria, always claimed Rose & Joe’s is the best pizza he’s ever had (My favorite is L & B’s in Brooklyn, but only the Sicilian slice), but after he had a slice of Rosario’s, he said, “I think this is better than Rose & Joe’s.

Just everything about the slice was awesome. The mozzarella was amazing, fresh, made every day, the bread as Dave said, is excellent, the sauce was tasty. Now other reviews said the sauce is sweet, maybe a little, but I didn’t taste a lot of sweetness. My nephew, who isn’t a pizza fanatic, loved it (L&B is still his favorite).

And the people were so nice. I got to talk to the old man who owns the place, such a nice guy, so proud of his pizza and everything else they make, and told me his history in the pizza game. His daughter was there, she was super nice as well. And I don’t know if the guy heating up the slices was the daughter’s husband or bf, but he was really nice too.

Glad to see Dave is finally giving Astoria the pizza love it deserves. He's been sleeping on that neighborhood for far too long, and could easily spend the rest of the month there doing reviews. Rosario's, Rose & Joes, the original Rizzo's (he went bonkers for the one on the LES), Milkflower, Sac's Place, Tufino, Vesta, Basil, and the geographically confusing but delicious Detroit style at Boston Pizza in Astoria, Queens. (I'm sure I'm forgetting at least a dozen others.)

Rosario's best slice is their square slice. It's just that they don't know it lol.. Not sure if they use a different sauce but it's so hearty and flavorful. The regular slice is just a solid bite and doesn't even come close to the square.
