I am currently switching from Sony A7IV to fuji X-H2s, and while those are different cameras, the comparison is somewhat similar. The most obvious thing would be the sensor size - APS-C vs FF, and while it is true that most FF sensors are better than most aps-c ones, not all are created equal! The beauty of this fuji sensor is that it is stacked, so the rolling shutter is almost non existing, while offering the same dynamic range as the high- end FF Sony sensors, and in fact a little better then the Panasonic. Also, since FUJI is using an X Trans sensor, the noise is showing very different from the standard CMOS sensors, and it somewhat pleasing and film-like, combine all of those things with the great highlight roll off that the fuji also offers, and I don't see ANY advantage going full frame apart from the shallower depth of field.
That depth of field advantage tho, can be also a disadvantage. We all know hooting in low light situations, using faster glass allows you to lower the ISO, and get better image, but using a full frame sensor, you can easily go over the top with the "bokeh" and not have enough DOF to keep your subject sharp, while on the APS-C side of things, when maintaining the same field of view, because of the crop, you are further away from the subject, and therefore you have increased DOF, while getting more light in.
The part that is most important to me tho, is maintaining the same field of view of my lenses, while shooting 24, and 60p, and this is what separates both the Sony A7IV and S5 II/x from the fuji. To combat the crop factors of the FF cameras when shooting higher frame rates, you need to either get a second set of lenses that are designed for APS-C, or move backwards. Neither of those options are good IMO, since the first costs an arm and a leg, not to mention swapping lenses every time you need to shoot 60p, and the second one is not always possible, especially in event work, going into tight places. And yes, the Fuji have that same APC-S crop, but it doesn't change between 24p and 60p, so your field of view will always be the same!
Both the Sony and Panasonic are great FF photography cameras, and both are great APC-s video cameras, but if you look for a true hybrid, the X-H2s seems far more complete. And while you can absolutely build on APS-C kits for both the sony and panasonic, then you are not really buying it for the FF, and you sacrafice photo resolution along the way.
Sorry for the long comment, but all of the videos comparing the FUJI to all those FF cameras are really not taking any of those things in consideration, which doesn't do any favors to otherwise a fantastic camera!

I love filming with the Lumix, same with Sony cameras but taking photography with it doesn't feel right for me, I know it "doesn't matter" but I feel more inspired taking pictures with the Fuji

All these cameras have become so good, that the only think left to differentiate them are certain features and lens choice. I LOVE my XH2-S, but the Lumix looks like a beast and an absolute joy to use!

I was on the fence about both of these for a while. Good video!

Fuji needs to fix or at least restore their autofocus, because the Lumix is looking real good right now.

I am so back and forth between these two right now. I know there is not necesiarily a wrong pick but it is still a significant investment eitherway. Thanks for comparing these - I aprecaited your insight.

I’ve had both the S5II and the XH2S . Im not sure about the S5IIX but the S5II had a slow start up time (the XH2S also had a slow start time) which annoyed me . However, I like how on the S5II if you long press a button you can assign it a function. I also like the jog wheel on the Lumix .

May I ask what lenes you use for filming with the XH2s and what autofokus settings?

you made a mistake, you should have put on the Lumix Full Area so that the autofocus follows your subject on the whole scene, you centered your focus in the center, normal, who won't find you on the sides...I made a video on it and even in low light I don't have this kind of problem, I will also do a comparison test and my a7 IV...

can you compare the video images from the two camera? It doesn't exist a test like this on YouTube

I was between these in February. It was an easy choice. One was available and one was not. I needed a camera right away and wasn't going to wait for three months. If the S5iix had been out then, it would have been a harder choice. I think I probably still would have gone with X-H2S. But not sure ... Both are great cameras.

What do you think about Ibis and framerates? The Ibis from my Xh2s is you good if you don't move. 120fps in 4k are soft I think and I think the af in 120fps is not reliable.

what about dynamic range and latitude?

less than a 1 minute for the whole sensor-image-video quality is crazy.

I think you set wrong AF-C mode in Lumix. you're setting it at tracking mode. that need to be lock by shutter to AF. In this case, it should be Full Area

I hope you go over IBIS with these cameras. An in depth look with standing still, slight panning and parralaxing would be nice!

No one (here or anywhere else on YouTube), talks about bitrates or color sampling. XH2S wins by a mile on bitrates (easily up to three times higher in some cases).

Also, S5IIX is severely crippled when filming open gate (4:2:0 only, no All-I, no ProRes, no HDMI RAW, 200 Mbps only...). XH2S has no such issues. On the XH2S, open gate is a first class citizen. On the S5IIX, it's only useful for social media.

Fuji needs to get better at video usability (shutter angle, waveform and oscilloscope, etc.) and of course get MUCH better at video AF. Those might be firmware improvements. No way to firmware-improve second class open gate on the S5IIX.

If only Fuji could get a comparable IBIS to the magic of Panasonic...

How does these compare to teh R6 II and a7 IV?

😂 That's a hard battle, personally being a Fuji user it may seem that if have a bias, but I much preferred the analog dials on Fuji than Pasm so I guess we're square here.

However I'd put the Panasonic S5 II against the Fujifilm X-H2 instead because the stacked sensor of the X-H2s is a clear advantage in my opinion.

I think Fujifilm has quite a bit to learn from Panasonic this time around, specially regarding the video features. I kind of like the ability to bake in my preferred custom LUT to my Log video in camera, totally skipping the need to color grade in post.

Where with Fuji we are just shooting with a film simulation which isn't "unlimited fully customizable" (hope you understand me) and you lose the benefit of the extra dynamic range you get from the Log footage. Technically with the Panasonic too since you're baking your LUT in, but it's more about you already know what you want and have expectation of range in mind VS what you see is what you get from Fuji. 😂😂😂 It's a complicated opinion.

I also like the built-in fan of the Panasonic, it does permanently bulk the camera, but it's one less thing to forget, lose, or have a dead battery (although I'm not sure if the Fujifilm fan is battery powered or otherwise) people likely to appreciate the fan are likely shooting 4k or higher for as long as the battery allow, or shooting in hotter climate.

It looks like I'm team Panasonic right. Yeah not really, Fujifilm seems to have a more complete native lens selection and third-party ones are coming in gradually, also prices tend to be better for native aps-c lenses comparing to native full frame lenses. Then still talking lenses it comes the weight, full frame lenses tend to be heavier and bulkier, and Fujinon lenses have the aperture ring 😎

One thing not mentioned here in the video is IBIS and Panasonic has been the king of IBIS for quite some time, I'd love to see a comparison. The @HybridShooter channel has both cameras and it seems that Panasonic handles Ultrawide Lens wobble a bit better than Fujifilm, it's noticeable, but both cameras will wobble nonetheless and to be virtually wobble free you need to crop in with EIS anyways.

My comment is already too long 😅😅 well I'm torn apart, my comment seems to be favorable to Panasonic, but really one is the contrast of the other, both have room for improvement.

I'm actually more curious about the Fujifilm X-S20 😂😂 if only Fujifilm had added 2 SD card slots it would be the perfect not-perfect X-T4 companion camera. Or if Fujifilm would add their latest processor and firmware goodies and make an X-T4 II then I have a clear winner.

Thanks for reading this extra extra long comment, you rock 😎👍

Stacked sensor it’s a easy W for the fuji for me. I don’t think people understand the importance of that. Also fuji renders video in 14bit if you’re shooting at 30fps or under. This is why the DR on the fuji is beautiful. If full frame sensors were always better then nobody would use s35 sensors in professional Hollywood films but here we are with Arri.
