This is literally the best video I've seen to date on selecting a camera, you answered all my questions on these systems! Comparing the different camera systems helps a ton. I especially like that you compared starting prices with the basic accessories needed. Your team is really honing in, thank you!

That is interesting your clip showing rolling shutter on the GH6. I have a GH6 and not really noticed rolling shutter issues before. While I don't shoot in ProRes on the GH6 due do the huge file sizes, I do wonder why the firmware update they released to add ProRes to other resolutions besides 5.7K, they left out adding ProRes UHD resolution, which makes no sense to me. I bought a GH6 after using a GH5 since it came out. Yes the GH6 is a bit bigger but not massively so. It actually felt more well balanced in my hands than the GH5. I have never relied on Autofocus and I am happy with manual focus 99% of the time. The things I like about the GH6:

1. Colors in V-Log
2. Dynamic Range Boost
3. RAW Output/ProRes Internal even if they decided not to add UHD resolution to ProRes internal.
4. Shutter Angle and Waveforms.
5.The crop. Not everyone likes the 2x crop, but for wildlife shooting it is great. I could use the Leica 100-400 and get a FF equivalent 200-800mm range, which I don't think you can get a FF zoom lens that has that reach and if you could it would be huge and heavy. You can also use the Pixel to Pixel to get a bit closer to the subject when not in 5.8/5.9K or shooting RAW externally. to get a closer shot without changing lenses.
6. Easy to use menu system.
7. USB-C power. I have powered my GH6 for over 5 hours on a Anker PD battery and still had most of the battery life left.
8. Bright screen
9.Shutter angle
10. 5.8K open gate where you can add markers on screen for framing for different situations. I have used it crop to 16:9 5K in editing.
11. No overheating issues.
12. Smaller native lenses and a huge amount of lens options, especially with adaptors.
13. While not specific to the GH6, but I really appreciate Panasonic's customer service and the Lumix live streams they do on YouTube every Thursday on their cameras, lenses accessories and using them. You don't usually get other camera companies doing streams like that.
14. Focus transitions. I love being able to set focus points in camera and be able to do focus pulls perfectly every time at the same speed without having to do it manually.
15. Great IBIS

I have a GH5, sold my a cam which was my pocket 6k pro. It was too cumbersome for one man band work, as there was no auto focus and IBIS is non existent. Was going to get the FX3 but now I think I will just get the FX30. Just so much better bang for the buck features for my work flow. Great video!

It’s so impressive that the X-H2s is this good in video when it’s also an excellent still cameras.

None of the other cameras are made to shoot stills. In its price range, there’s an argument to make that the X-H2s is the best hybrid camera in its price range, including the A7IV and the R6 II.

Excellent review! The most useful info packed into one review I think I've ever seen! For me, the XH2S is the clear winner on a good balance of features alone, but if you look at some videos comparing image quality to much more expensive cameras like the Canon R5c or Sony FX3, the XH2s is a no brainer. It actually beats these cameras in many aspects of image quality. I'm hoping they'll improve AF and IBIS with firmware, but even as-is, these are adequate for me personally. Aloha!

informative 30mins on particularly GH6, and pocket 6K Thanks CVP.

I don’t understand how people can’t see the xh2s is THE BEST camera of the bunch and is the most well rounded. Best rolling shutter, great ibis, great codecs, external raw, 4k120 (with no crazy crop), dual native ISO, best low light render (grain instead of digital noise like Sony), best photo camera if you want that, great AF (90% as good as Sony).

Pretty great video... I've been kind of lusting after the xh2s, but with a gh6 and the external recorder for raw, I really have no excuses. I feel like you can do almost anything you want creatively on that camera. And having just grabbed a few sirui anamorphic lenses, with the anamorphic desqueeze in camera, and anamorphic stabilization, you can get some truly cool cinematic images out of it. There are just so many amazing options out there now, everyone can make some beautiful stuff.

an awesome video as normal guys, I was waiting on this one in particular because I'm a GH6 owner and I've been debating on whether the FX30 was a right fit to my workflow, I need reliable autofocus in various situations, the GH6 has improved vastly to previous models I've own but in that regard it has let me down in some occasions and Sony's autofocus is in its own category, however I'd like to add some stuff:
- As a Solo shooter that has experience with cameras like the A7SIII, A7III, A6600 and several more Sony cameras, the IBIS is pretty much the thing I hate about them, its not good, its better then not having, that's for sure, but I wouldn't call it "reliable", compared to the other ones, the GH6 has the best IBIS, I actually don't use a gimbal because of how good it is, sure there is a time and place for a gimbal because IBIS is not replacing it, but it gets to a point that in most situations, it almost does.
- the GH6 offers a lot of recording options with no crop to its image, it oversamples, the other brands have crops in some resolution and recording options.
- the option to record externally with the Fuji in BRaw and ProRes Raw, is something worth mentioning, GH6 and FX30 have the ProRes Raw option too but no BRaw.
- the lens selection with the P6K Pro in the "kit" or "bundle" part of the video (27:50) but the one for the GH6 is not the best choice IMO, the 12-35mm f2.8 its better, for the fuji there's not a lot of options on that constant aperture option but for the E-mount there are a couple of good alternatives to that very expensive G16-55mm but I agree, its not precisely easy to recommend the best "kit" to fit anyone's needs.

I went with the GH6 because as a Solo shooter (in most situations), that is the best overall package when it comes to physical and software features IMO, but I will be adding an FX30 for those situations were the GH6 lacks, mainly in autofocus and size but YES, EVERY CAMERA IN THIS VIDEO IS AWESOME, you pretty much can't go wrong.

One of the reasons I went with the GH6 is that the internal audio preamps are actually quite good. I have adapted XLR dynamic mics with excellent fidelity.

I am thinking about the Sony FX30. I like the features and all it can do. But I currently am a hybrid shooting with the Sony A6600 and love the camera. It paid for itself in less than 6 months during the peak of Covid. I have a love for Sony I had a Z5U and DCR-VX2000 and 1000. So have been at it for a long time. My thought is that the FX30 and the A6600 use the same lenses, batteries, and media for the most part. So wouldn't have to retool as much. So what would your input be for my idea?

I think Philip Bloom put it best: Auto Focus either works or it doesn't. An unreliable AF system is worth nothing.

I had both the Pocket 6K and have GH6. They were both great but the GH6 has the better overall features. Plus that open gate!

Finally the perfect comparison video for cameras in the same price range. Thanks for being so thorough!

BMPCC6K if colour science and cinematic Image quality is your bag. FX30 if decent reliable autofocus is the deal breaker, GH6 for IBIS, open gate and anamorphic on a budget and Fuji if stills are important.

Coming from an older camera g85 I would say the auto focus on the GH6 is stunning
