I know Darkseid unconsciously made this universe, but when it came to Superman, I like to think he went "...Hehe yeah boi..."

The DC Absolute Universe is honestly one of the wildest and most interesting ideas they’ve done in a minute

You missed one key aspect. Jor El and Lara are still geniuses and SHOULD have been in the Science Guild. They rocked the boat so got punished for it which is why they wear the S with pride. They stood for their beliefs while taking their punishment.

This new universe is proof that comic writers should be allowed to rework pre-established lore as much as they want, as long as the end result is a good, interesting, and engaging story.

Is anyone else with me in the idea that a "League of middle management" is one of the most frightening fucking ideas you have ever heard in your life?

"So what does the S stand for?"

"In my homeworld it means Help:"

"As in you help people?"

"No it means The Help."

This new alternate Superman and alternate Krypton for this new universe is both intriguing AND a call-back to back when Superman's epithet was "Champion of the Oppressed".

I suspect the Kents were put out of business and had to sell their farm thanks to industry scaled farming. They may still be alive. I hope Krypto is still alive, but at least this isn't the Jojo universe, where extreme cruelty to dogs is some kind of universal law.

*Krypto dies. Years later:*
"Rob is a man of focus, commitment, and sheer will...I once saw him kill three writers in a bar with a pencil..."

It's cool that Jason Aaron went back to the root of Superman in the originals stories from the 30s and 40s where he began. Grounded in being close to the people he is fighting for. That DNA is all over this. Love it.

Jin Kazama... Superman in a hoodie & he has flames on his costume... they turned him into Jin Kazama. He just needs a '90's tribal tattoo.

Holy shit the leak where they said absolute superman has man of steel vibes did the story so dirty.

I like that we get to see a version of Kal-El have an interesting life on Krypton before he revealed his existence to the public when he saved the civilians from Lazarus Corps. Jason Aaron his done a great job of providing backstory and origins to this version of Superman. Overall, this comic is onto a great start.

Asbestos was used in insulation and fireproofing materials i.e. car brakes, wallboards, roof sheets and flooring tiles and as Rob said it was outlawed when it was linked to miners as well as any workers handling the material getting cancer.
Shout out to Rob for the history lesson.

I didn't hear you say, *"Maaan let me tell you something", * but this story didn't disappoint.

The first few minutes of this makes Krypton more interesting to me than ever before. Turning the symbol of hope proudly adorned by family into a symbol of indignity forced upon the lower class is such a cool turn. A "man of steel" for us is just a steelworker for them.
