"You can't really do it without swearing" as a guy from Boston I can 100% confirm that that's true

Corden's accent sounds like a British cowboy after a stroke

I’m from Boston and have been told that it is an actor’s nightmare to try to learn a Boston accent.

56 seconds? Next time you should put each individual word coming out of their mouth in a different video and each sentence into a playlist. That would be more fun.

"Ma" from the Irish influence there in Boston.

Even without swearing and doing the authentic Boston accent, the Bostoners have a very clear and clean way of speaking. I had a Bostoner instructor for 5 years at college and I could understand him speaking so easily. I thought it was because he was a teacher but that's not the case. In the film industry Matt Damon is one of the few actors a new English learner can understand so easily. He speaks so clearly and so easy to understand.

American: *teaches a Brit about an accent*
Brit: *thinks every American accent is southern*

When James says "is Ma upstairs?", I'm certain he sounds like an Australian.

So true. You can't do an authentic Boston accent without swearing.😂

To a British person's ear, Damon's voice here and CE's voice sound.. almost identical. It's a really distinctive 'American sounding' accent and I love it!

Intrusive r. Very common in the English accent as well.

The Boston accent is notoriously one of the hardest accents to learn. It would take months worth of working with a dialect coach just to learn the basics properly.

The way Matt says "upstairs", sounds Australian.

If you really want to learn how to speak in a Boston accent, all you have to do is watch his (or find a movie with an actress in Boston if you're female) movies where he speaks with the accent and copy it exactly as you hear it. Eventually you figure out the patterns and the little things that make the accent so different. Then you can develop your own voice in it after a few weeks of practice.

Can confirm it is difficult to not swear when doing that accent though.

I'm Aussie. When I was young and living in Canada, a few people thought I was Bostonian. I see why these days, now I don't have as thick an accent.

I remember when I moved to Boston my neighbor asked if I wanted to go to a potty. I thought it was really weird at first then realized it was party
