Fully agree. I hate trying to getting a feel for a game and having to sift through memes and s**tposts to a point where it's easier to just click "show negative reviews only" and judge a game by that instead.

7:30 I actually completely disagree with that because Steam is already providing the tools necessary to the devs to address that. There is a "link and informations" section for discord links, its not meant to be in the "about game" section.

I wish Steam would stop with the Good or bad review style. Because there are so many games I am like "I cannot really endorse it but I am also not against this game. It is not bad for certain people." so essentially games that are 5/10.

I released a game on steam awhile back and there was one reviewer who clearly had not even read the system requirements and a couple others who either had not really even played the game or outright lied about it.

Idk, I think memes still perform an important purpose for the end user. Theres no better way to get a litmous test on the general aura of a community than to get a peak into the memes that are upvoted as reviews. When games hit it big and become internet cultural phenomenon, you can see that on the user reviews. And then buying the game is made more exciting because I read all these goofy in world memes and stuff and then I feel like I'm becoming a member of the community and joining in on the cultural phenomenon.

I think steam should add a audio section where we can listen to the dev explain what the game is. Cinematic trailers are nice but don't show what the game is half the time.

Meh even before the recent controversy Verge was kinda crap. Not Kotaku levels of bad but not all that much better. Them getting blacklisted would probably be a measurable improvement to gaming journalism as it would make way for some decent reporters to gobble up attention.

2:36 steam already screws with reviews, if you don't buy a game on their platform you effectively have no review if you review it.

people leaving good reviews are often just "it's good", but negative reviews tend to expand more on the things they don't like.

people saying a game is broken, wont load ect gives me pause, but people complaining about graphics? or people complaining something is single player, when i see that as a positive review since that's what i want
