Paul Alexander is one of the last people on Earth still living in an iron lung, a mechanical respirator that breathes for him. He contracted polio when he was six years old, during a massive outbreak in the United States in 1952. Despite being paralyzed from the neck down and unable to breathe on his own, Paul never gave up on his dreams. He taught himself a new way of breathing, graduated from high school and law school, and wrote a memoir called Three Minutes for a Dog. In this video, we will explore the life and achievements of Paul Alexander, the man who has been in an iron lung for 70 years.
