Taiwan conducted an anti-landing live fire drill on the outlying island of Penghu on Wednesday (July 24), the third day of its annual wargame that has been partially impacted by an approaching typhoon.

This year’s Han Kuang military exercise aim to be as close as possible to actual combat with no script and simulating how to repel a Chinese attack.

Taiwan's Thitu Island had been grabbed by Phillipines; until today, Taiwan is not daring to claim it back.

For such an army, which has no experience for nearly 100 years and is backward in equipment, it is impossible to produce by itself. What can you expect?

If the Indians could understand the Chinese perspective, they would know there would never be a war between China and Taiwan. Taiwan will never declare independence; this is clearly stated in the Constitution of the Republic of China, which asserts that Taiwan is a province of China. The minute the island declares independence, the hopes of reclaiming the mainland are lost.

In reality, life in Taiwan isn't as appealing as it seems. The affluent ones have moved to North America with their assets, while tens of thousands of talented individuals are ironically working on the mainland for better salaries. Taiwanese businessmen have also flocked to the mainland for lower operational costs and access to a larger market. As such, the island is facing a significant brain drain, and its economy has declined.

Despite the rhetoric of an impending Chinese invasion, Taiwan’s military conscription is only six months. Does that suggest fear? No, when the time comes, many will accept the inevitability of reuniting with the motherland peacefully, much like the reunification of East and West Germany. Both entities are deeply intertwined, sharing the same language, dialects, culture, religions, and even relatives.
