When Neil runs out of battery on the climb... 😂

I really liked this one. It’s interesting you talk about fatigue. I find my upper body is taking more of a hit due to manhandling the heavy bike around.

Good tips apart from charging battery to 100% right after use and storing it like that.
Store at 3.7 to 3.8v and don't charge a warm battery if you can help it, let it cool down at least.
This is one of the reasons e-bikes are impractical for me being a casual user in the UK wanting to go out on the spur of the moment when the weather is nice lol.
I fly RC planes etc and only charge up a few packs just before I go out which only takes 20 mins on a fast 2c charge from 3.8v, having to wait a few hours for a blast on my bike will likely stop me ever doing it lol, weather changes too quickly.

I have the shimano steps motor and if you have any pressure on the pedal, ie resting your foot, when you switch on, you get an err13. To clear, switch off and on again with the pedals free. I also have my reverb dropper switch on the left, under the bars, which was catching the power mode levers and stopping them changing. I usually run my controls a bit loose so if i crash they move without breaking and i can reset them by hand. Knowing when to switch gear or power mode on the trail. I now ride in eco using the gears most of the time. With experience you get to treat the power mode like a front mech. If you change the power mode you may also then need to change gear to for traction..Can you confirm battery maintenance as im reading conflicting info. I use my ebike twice a week and usually charge after second ride, when down from 5 to 1 or 2 bars. They are very expensive to prematurely kill.

The so called Banter I have had the abuse of cheater especially on the road when you breeze past any road guys, after a while you do become an expert at battery conservation, so I now carry a spare in my back pack it was well worth it .

Chain breaks are quite common on ebikes as well. I hardly ever heard of a chain breaks before ebikes, but they have so much power you need to carry spare quick links.

Learning how to do anything by knowing what not to do is a terrific way to discover any new skill or habit.
The big take away here is the battery, Steve mentioned it in a previous video which is important for me because for the first couple weeks of owning my eBike I was only charging the night before a ride.

Also great point re: the banter, as a recent convert myself, I've copped my fair share from my riding buddies since indicating I was getting an eBike. But rather than bite back, I suggest they should try it first and offer to take them out & give them a ride.

Helping to change attitudes one rider at a time! :D

Battery goes in my backpack! Even if I don't intend a long slog! I've two ebikes a hard tail and Am overvault both with yamaha motor and bat which fits both bikes....

What are you referring to when you say, "gel" (as far as consumption)?

I always try to ride out into wind in ECO mode and on my way back with wind pushing me I switch to Turbo and its all downhill!

At the beginning what do you mean by head shaker?

i would say that the problem with shimano steps, is the display for the battery life. the last 2 bars should show 40% life, but in reality its nearer half that. also, im losing about 10% when its around freezing level. on average only getting about 20 miles in trail mode anyway.
if you want to buy one of these bikes, you should factor in 5 or 6 hundred quid for a spare.
You can blow through a battery in less than an hour and im only 11 stone.

I’m lost when it comes to keeping your bike charged? I thought if your not gonna ride a while to keep your battery at 40-50% to last longer not at 100%

In regard to your recommendation to charge to 100%.
***In the 2019 Specialized turbo Levo manual it states to store your battery between 30-39% charge level, seems to go against your advice.
*** I think the rep you got your info from wants to sell more battery packs.

Hey EMBN! Ride Management! So...last Summer I my longest tour took about 9 hours with over 6 hours of pure riding! At the moment I am in an acceptable shape and I will try to ride about 12 hours...with probably 8-10 hours of pure riding in the next summer...what do think...is this possible on an emtb? I mean with the right power management! Will the battery last that long?

I have a 4 year old haibike and the electric components all work like new even though I never kept it charged.
