I use packing cubes with compression and that are double sided, with a dry and wet side. So, I can keep the things that belong together, but separate them if they are wet or dirty. They even have a middle section that you can either open to have one big cube and is also a zipper compartment for your shoes, belts or what not. They are also practical if you go to the beach for example.

This how I pack and it really works well. Emergency clothing is really important too. I had done this and was so glad when arriving in Korea after a 10 hour flight and my bag went missing for over a week. Layering highly recommended too - it gives you good insulation in the cold and when you go into an overheated restaurant you can nip into the ladies and remove under shirts and out them back on before you leave. Shoes - you generally only need 2 pairs including the ones you are wearing. Make sure you have comfortable ones especially if you are going to be walking on cobblestones. Waterproof them and your coats - its easy to spray it on. A pair of flip flops are handy tho if you are using shared showers or go to the beach.

Definitely going to use the packing bottom to top in terms of what you need at the airport suggestion next time I fly. I tend to pack like I'm still in school and trying to fit all my textbooks.

Awesome tips! Some of those I'll definitely use on my next trip! The biggest thing I think I need to do is get more packing cubes. They are so handy.

Thanks for the video! I will definitely use the tip about putting the heaviest stuff at the bottom of the suitcase because mine has been known to fall over randomly. I also hadn't considered packing an emergency outfit when travelling, so I will do that on my next trip! Thanks!

My favorite tip was a bag for my chargers. So simple but I never thought of it!

I like the idea of the emergency outfit in a separate bag. And I have never used packing cubes, I often used ziploc bags. I like the packing cubes they look very organized. Thanks for sharing your tips.

Related to 4:50 (checking bags)
1. If you think you’ll buy clothes while you’re there, you can adjust for that in your packing. I don’t really buy coffee mugs and other souvenirs anymore, instead I’ll buy one or two nice things like an outfit or local artwork. It’s something I’ll use and it comes with a story.
2. Checking a bag on the return trip usually isn’t as big a deal as checking a bag outbound. I’ll often pack another bag (like a soft duffel, something that folds down) inside my carry-on. Then for the return leg I can check one and carry the other.

Wow I love your videos, you do a great job not only describing verbally but showing. I just went through a bunch of travel packing videos where the presenters talked their heads off and I had to turn it off. You have a great talent for this!

I like to pack 1 shirt per day + 1 shirt that i can use if something happens (this usually is my "emergency outfit" which i put on my backpack, like you) I try to pack shirts that can be dressed up by small accessories for evenings, and then dress it down for the next day!
