I personally loved this movie, I found it thought provoking and yes there were moments when it was not logical, but then it depends on your definition of logic! That was the beauty of it though. Human beings mostly think with their hearts rather than their minds. I thought it was well acted especially the teacher.

I think everyone is majorly overthinking this. Watch it for what it is: a movie. It's not a university philosophy lecture and doesn't claim to be, so stop judging it as if it is one! Although the ending was not amazing, I enjoyed this movie; it stimulated my thoughts and provoked emotions and in my opinion, that's what a good film should do. It might not be suited to everyone's varying tastes, but don't just cast the film with a cloud of negativity and ignore all of the gleaming moments of directorial gold that do appear in it. Definitely give the movie a go!

This is one of those movies people either absolutely love or completely hate. Personally, I loved it. Sure, there were some bits that could have been better- like the dialogue between the student and her teacher at the end-  but can you name a movie where that isn't the case? I can't. There was a quiet beauty to this film, and I liked the way it seemed to flow along like a river, flashing in and out of reality and a series of fictional universes they have imagined for themselves. It picked up things from each scenario, i.e.. The girl remembering the code in a different scenario that she should have. A plot hole? I don't really think so, I think they mean to do it. Maybe an opportunity to say "Quit taking everything so seriously." Point is, if you liked philosophy in school or as a hobby, if you daydream about the "What if's", or if you have an open mind, this movie is actually pretty awesome. But if you have to have completely nailed down storylines, or if you are the type of person who counts plot holes and mistakes in films, stay away. You aren't going to get the humor, you'll call parts mistakes when they were actually meant to be that way. Overall, it'll go right over your head. Five stars!!!

Spoilers! The last simulation, or whatever, on the island the lecturer was not let in because the soldier remembered the code from the previous simulation where they died??? I'm no philosopher but I think that just makes the whole exercise pointless.

Why have I never heard of this film before? I like the woman's philosophy: 'In my apocalypse, everyone is worth as much as everyone else.' Quite right. I hope the film celebrates her perspective.

The whole point of the movie is that logic and being smart aren't the only things in life, that is why in the end the guy who is really smart (the teacher) does not get the girl and kills himself because of loneliness

Trailers like these made me not wanting to watch the movie but I still gave it a go and I enjoyed it, quite slow sometimes and there are scenes that are just not needed, but was still good.

Wow, reading through these comments, talk about divided opinion! Personally, I see this movie as a brilliant idea with a mixed execution; the acting is hit and miss, and the ending's moral stance didn't sit well with me, but  throughout I was thinking the scenarios through in my mind, asking myself 'what would I do?'- very few films engage me like that. Also, for those who dislike the ending, I would personally interpret the core of the film to be that we should think for ourselves rather than being slaves to logic/ 'acceptable' ideas- in that way we can choose whether to accept or reject Petra's interpretation. Just food for thought; I recommend this movie but advise an open and critical mind throughout :)

I'll be honest, I love the movie. I've watched it twice and still enjoyed it.
To me it was interesting and thought provoking. The way they presented the situations and characters was really good in my opinion.
Other people obviously disagree, but I say watch it and see for yourself.

i like this movie a lot. i wish they can remake it, but at the same time not. it’s in a timeless time of the early 2010s. it needs to stay there. it’s great the way it is.

I liked the idea of this movie, but it was a total misser. They should remake it, use actual philosopy, create a story without dumb plotholes (re-using the code. I mean, really?), and make the lead actress not so infuriatingly punchable.
