The policy of my last company was to not pay as regulations, then wait until they were forced to pay after judgment came down.

Varies from state to state. Where I’m at - if you’re fired - 3 working days, if you quit - next regular pay cycles.

The last job I quit attempted to withhold my last check out of bitterness I hadnt given more notice. I gave two weeks, when I asked what they wouldve wanted, they said months. Before you think I had some important, hard to replace position, it was a pizza shop, I was the night manager.

Every state is different. Always check the laws

To everyone saying it differs on state, I think that's why they put #California on it

I'll never give two weeks notice again. Did that once, they let me go on the spot.

Company I work for switched to "unlimited PTO" specifically so that they don't have to pay it out when they fire people.

PTO payout is based on company policy in Idaho. Our company has a vesting schedule similar to the more common 401k match vesting

My last company got to a point where I was forced to miss 2 paychecks back to back, while in the end it was one big one, it really fucked me on my bills and honestly im glad I quit.

Paid time off, sick days, and paid vacations are not always required by law to be paid. Some states view them as optional bonuses at the company’s discretion.

Quitting and then getting paid sooner than your usual pay cycle is kinda wild. 😂

In Canada if you are fired all compensation is required in 48 hrs plus ROE for service Can. If you leave then it is usually settled up on regular paydays.

I worked for a corporation that took about a month to pay me that and I didn’t know I was entitled to it. I also worked for a regional LLC that’s growing rapidly. They told me how much I was getting back and did so on top of my last paycheck

In nevada, it's only if you're fired, if you quit, they can wait until the next payday

PTO payout is completely state/company policy regulated. Here in MD, they dont have to pay you out.
