The data science job market was down by 26% in 2022!

Over the last 18 months, we've been scraping job listing data from different sources to better understand how the data science job market has been doing over this past year.

I was hoping to find that Data Science remains the sexiest job in the 21st century. Well...it seems that this may not be the case anymore.

In this video, we'll cover the results of our job market analysis, why is the market going down, and my advice for you going into 2023.

Love the video.

I hundred percent agree on the job applications. When I apply, I either do not hear from them or a bot will send an irrelevant email.

Yes, Data Science is beginning to mature and is now becoming multiple specializations. This happened with Computer Science, and now it is happening to Data Science.

I have been working on devops as a data scientist for the last month. I actually like it quite a lot after working ML for a while

Good video. Something that I have observed is that the experience requirement for Data Scientists seems to be going up. I was a Sr. Data Analyst who picked up an MS in Data Science and transitioned to a Data Scientist position at another company. What I am seeing now, both at my current company and others, is employers are expecting that a new data scientist will have some previous data professional experience (often at a data analyst).

The whole "data scientist is not an entry level position" idea is really coming into fruition. I predict that over the next 5 or so years the standard will be a masters degree and 1 or more years data analyst/data engineer/software engineer experience.

Any advice on boot camps or programs. I have an MA in Sociology with experience in data analysis and a bit of data science. BS in Applied Mathematics, so lots of experience with statistics. Just don't have the Python background and/or ML.

Hi!
How can I contact interviewQuery support if my email account, which was registered in InterviewQuery, was blocked?

I am going to do MBA ( 2 years course ) in Data science starting from Jan 2024 and it will end on Jan 2026, so, is it my right step, I am 3 years experienced in IT and then, will be 5 years experienced with data science masters degree.

Forgot about data architects. I think data scientist falls under the whole of data science so data science is alive and well

I know a high position, big tech friend who calls data scientists "SQL Monkeys".
