Windows Server 2025 features:
Jeff Woolsey explained the new features of Windows Server 2025, such as AD-less clustering, GPU partitioning, NVMe storage stack, and Azure Arc integration.
Hyper-V server deprecation:
Jeff Woolsey clarified that Hyper-V server, the free product, is deprecated, but Hyper-V, the technology, is not and is used across Microsoft products and services.
Azure Stack HCI vs Windows Server:
Jeff Woolsey differentiated Azure Stack HCI and Windows Server as different products for different scenarios, with Azure Stack HCI being a cloud-managed virtualization host and Windows Server being a general purpose operating system.
Azure Virtual Desktop on premises:
Jeff Woolsey confirmed that Azure Virtual Desktop is an Azure feature that requires Azure Stack HCI and is not coming to Windows Server.
Follow-up tasks:
Windows Server 2025 scalability:
Test and validate the new scalability numbers on different hardware configurations (Jeff and his team)
Azure Arc:
Try Azure Arc on Windows Server and explore the free and paid services available (Flo and his customers)
Azure Stack HCI:
Build a new product that can run on Azure Stack HCI and other platforms using Kubernetes and Azure Service Bus (The startup that Flo talked to)
Windows Server 2025 edge features:
Deploy Windows Server 2025 on edge scenarios using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and AD-less clusters (Flo and his mining customers)

Been a Hyper-V Engineer since its inception in Windows Server 2008. I am over the moon knowing Hyper-V is back and better in Windows Server 2025. Not a Fan of AsHCI 23h2 Build, Azure HCI deployment takes far too long, 4 node 23h2 Cluster took over 4hrs for the deployment to complete. Where tradition Hyper-V Cluster only takes 15mins to create via FCM or PowerShell. In an emergency Recovery exercise 23h2 rebuild and recreation is not ideal. Appreciate this podcast and keep up the good work mate... Fan from NZ!!
AD-Less Cluster, , , , best thing ever for Hyper-V Clusters...finally feeling like esx-i

Sorry mate, for the industry that I am currently employed systems operate all from On-premise... Server - Client solution communication with SCADA PLC systems running on Modbus protocol. Microsoft Consultant is wrong... On-premise will never disappear!!

For the AD-Less clustering comment, is there any documents that will dive more into it?
