Today, Ennio Morricone, composer of this song, passed away. Press F for respect. Go in peace, sir.

The rain and wind physics... The graphics... The music timed perfectly, the one-shot camera work(the way the camera follows the group and shakes when the car takes off), the angles... This game is a masterpiece. Fuck Konami for almost ruining it.

1:11 notice the lens flare and sound clue (often used to represent danger in MGSV) lighting up the American flag, on the exact same beat as when Kaz says the word “Cipher”

My mum saw me playing this part of the game and asked me if I was watching a movie

This song was composed by Joan Baez and Ennio Morricone as a tribute to Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, two Italian anarchists who were accused of murdering a guard and a payroll clerk. They were executed on August 23, 1927, after massive social uproar to free them. Indeed, as time went on, the historical consensus shifted towards their innocence and on the 50th anniversary of their death it was Michael Dukakis, governor of the state of Massachusetts, who declared they had been wrongfully tried and executed by the state.

God, this is so haunting. A serenade for Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti turned into a funeral march for MSF. And a call to arms for XOF.

The best prologue to a game that never was. I expected this game to be the darkest wargame yet, going deep into the history of warcrimes but instead we got an unfinished game. Its sad but all of us still feel the phantom pain.

The moment when Chico uses the Walkman and all the noise is drowned out as Skull Face walks by remains absolutely timeless, truly feels like the beginning of the end.

One of the most beautiful and haunting introductions to a game

Esp in hindsight, everything is gonna go so, so, so wrong. But here you are..thinking you can can stop it all with your skills

I still think somehow I can change things when I start it all over at GZ.

Rip to my Diamond dogs.

We loved you

It’s hard to believe that Kaz’s voice actor was also the voice of Medic from TF2. Man’s got incredible range.

I love the fact that mgs5 starts with the same music as mgs4 ended with

I remember booting this up on Christmas day of 2019, it was cold night and I had never played a metal gear game prior, and wanted to give mgsv a try since it's on ps4, and by god this intro was an amazing introduction to this franchise for me, the haunting melody, and somber lyrics matched so well with the almost dystopian backdrop of camp omega, as choppers fly over the base, and the camera tracking the four wheeler with Skullface and his XOF soldiers, and the little exposition given by Kaz and Big Boss was enough to sell me on this story. I love mgsv, even if it's not perfect, it's still a fantastic game.

Fun fact, the song playing is about two Italian-american anarchists that were convicted and executed. Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti.

This is probably my favorite cut scene of all time. There are only a few that I believe even compare to this, Morrowind's ending, Quiet leaving and the Boss' death. I don't think the "epic" cut scenes are the best, some are great but they are not the best. Somewhat tragic ones and ones that make you reflect are the best. They show how the characters have grown on you throughout the game. I'm still really annoyed that Skyrim didn't get an end cut scene when you end Alduin.
