As soon as you said ground zeros i winced literal peak fiction peak combat situations peak difficulty it feels like breaking into a top secret base and its nonlinear gameplay and story telling through the caset tapes is masterful and it has such an oppresive heavy and dark feel to it and it is still beautiful to this day

5 is best because it has the best gameplay and these are GAMES. It has the best third person action controls ever. Ten years later Helldivers 2 straight up copies it and people talk about how great its contros are. Its dynamic, immersive sim type stuff is the pinnacle of Kojima game design and the whole game just sees him mature and focused in a way weve never seen outside that game. Shame he never got to finish it. Despite being a half finished game its so good. Anyway just watching the comic book cut scenes with Eli on the island really improves the story. Also I think the story besides the ending and the fact that it doesn't finish, is actually good. With child soldiers and the language virus. It really seems like MGS matured. 3 is second because it has the best combination of gameplay and story. Ill accept this as number 1 in your list. Then 1. It doesn't hold up that well but this was basically the first cinematic blockbuster in a lot of ways. Highly influential. Then 4. Which really didnt innovate that much in terms of gameplay. Plus it has an oddly traditional mission structure which Metal Gear since the very fist game has been famous for eschewing. Its cutscenes are excessive. Then 2. Which in a lot of ways is just a slighty improved 2 and lets be honest... Did we REALLY need the blond ninja in this series at all? Ill play as Big Boss and Ill play as Snake. Thank you very much.

Considering this is a list of games... Having 5 so low when it has the best gameplay... Plus you put Rising ahead of it and that has nothing to offer BUT gameplay.

Mgs4 and 5 are the only mgs games I’ll watch the cutscenes for. I usually skip the not in game cutscenes parts like the historical footage and exposition slideshows otherwise it’s fair game.

As every Metal Gear Solid fan would know, of COURSE Snake Eater is at the top. It is objectively the best game of the series.

Personally though, as MGS 1 was my first ever video game back in '99 when i was 7, that one will always sit at number 1 for me, even if Phantom Pains gameplay loop is the best, or Snake Eaters Story, or GotPs cinematics and emotional dick punches.

mgs4 should be higher. kinda ridiculous rising is higher than it. doesn’t matter if the cutscenes were a bit long they were awesome and 4 has the best gameplay in the series. 5’s gameplay is way too easy and plays like the typical 3rd person action game. still good though and i agree 5’s story was trash.

My least favorite metal gear game is the phantom pain because it killed my PS4 I guess i couldn’t handle it 😭😭😭

I rather enjoyed phantom pain, it would be second on my list, 3 would still be in the number 1 spot, didn't play peace walker or 4 so i can't rank them and i refuse to play survive so I can't rank it either.
