Lessons learned from failures hit harder than lessons learned from success, so in this video, I share my experience messing up the interview at Harvard Business School (HBS). Hoping that the mistakes that I made can help you prepare for your future interviews (schools, work, etc.).

I just had a rejection on my final interview in my dream job. It was painful but (not easy as it sounds) I turned that pain into motivation for the next time.

That was interesting indeed, in my personal opinion the lessons to be learned from the story you told is, be yourself (Don't fake it till you make it) - trust your knowledge after doing all your research - don't care much about others first impression of you as long as you're respectful anyways and most importantly always keep in mind that your interviewer isn't perfect neither, he or she is another human being just like you, and finally be open about your thoughts and your visions on certain matters (Always be ready to have a rational discussions and don't fear the results)
In other words have self respect - self awareness and never stop learning. (Step Up)

I truly appreciate how well you took that rejection and your classmates feedback and channeled it into positive energy. You are light years away from me

Hey, thanks so much for sharing your story. I’m waiting for the result of my app for one of the M7. Oh the agony of waiting. HBS did not even invite me. But I think you summarized what I have been searching for. It feels like they reject my whole self with my whole past and future. Anyway, the quote is really something to think about.

Thanks again!

I’m always a fan of lessons learned from failures (perhaps because I have SO many of my own🤣). Amazing video!!!

They did the same strategy with me: No notetaker and asking very casual, open-ended questions with a very friendly tone. Then they asked a few professional questions and I did not switch into *lengthy involved analysis responses*. I got WL then rejected. Ironically I saw this video before the interview and didn't learn from it.

I know how you feel, Im from LA in my case I spent 3 years to be part of the best university in my country, but one aspect they ask is be good at mathematics and other things but the hardest is be good at mathematic, but the education in our country is not good so I decided to work on it, study a lot almost from 0, and I never past due to that test, I felt like I had spent 3 years😢😪.. I was working and tried to study as much I could😔😪 It was almost 6 years ago!

Great story Patrick and thank you for the valuable insights. Can you please tell me what was your GRE/GMAT score? I see that regardless of your GPA, they invited you to the interview and I am planning on to apply Wharton MS/MBA Program this year. I was wondering whether Wharton is also flexible regarding our GRE/GMAT scores. Best wishes!
