If it fits and isn't too expensive, buy a higher capacity battery. I bought an AGM battery rated for about 50% higher CCA than my car needed and it lasted for about 10 years.

Scotty bought a battery at Walmart that failed in 14 months with a 2 year warranty. They tested it and said it was weak but still should be OK. My wife could not get home because it would not start the car. She bought a $200 battery from Walmart just to get home. After 3 weeks of fighting with Walmart Corporate the finally gave her the money back. Be careful who you reccomend.

Why is no one talking about the price increase of batteries.. In 2016 a regular battery for a v6 was $110 and Optima redtop was $220. now a regular battery for a v6 is $200+ and optima red tops are near $350.... ridiculous

I think car companies put all these fancy electronics in cars just so they can break and then rip you off when you want it fixed.

I was stranded it was the only place anywhere nearby 3k miles from home. They let me borrow tools, and they noticed that Toyota was asking for the wrong size battery (three years later they just noticed and did a recall) very helpful bought them lunch and was super happy with everything.

In the early 80's I bought a motorcycle battery. It came packaged in a box with a separate container of acid. You poured the acid into the battery cells, and you had a brand new fully charged battery with no worry about how long it sat on the shelf.

I have an Advance Auto Parts red top gel mat battery I bought in 2017 in my 2004 Tacoma. It's still going strong. It came with a 5 year no questions asked full replacement warranty. I'd by another one. Most batteries, like VCRs were, are made by a few companies and them labeled or cased according to the companies request. There was a battery plant on 131st St in Tampa when I went to USF in the mid 70's and you would see all brands coming out of there on the trucks.

I buy my auto and deep cycle batteries from Costco. They sell Interstate batteries and are always fresh. Not to mention the price is much better than even Walmart.

I live in Colorado and work at an auto parts store and we do free battery installation unless poor weather conditions. Have done hundreds of battery installs on many cars but there are some we aren't allowed to perform for certain cars where the battery is located in the trunk (unless easy) or under the seat. The work is covered incase a new kid messes it up.... but hey the service is free haha.

I've found Costco has the best deal going in my area of Georgia. Their battery turnover is quick, so you can be pretty sure that the battery is fresh. And yes, they do have sticker dates on them. Thanks for sharing Scotty!

Years ago, batteries had a 5 year warranty....then it went to 3 years....the last two I bought had a 2 year warranty...next time it will be a TAIL LIGHT WARRANTY.

Johnston Controls makes most all batteries in US. Including Wal Mart and Die Hard, AutoZone. Things change but this was fact a few years ago. They just aren't made to last like they used to be. Lucky if you get a 3 yr warranty

I can attest to the Walmart batteries. In 2017 I compared all the battery retailers I could find locally and Walmart had the best prices and warranty. Keep in mind that they have 3 different tiers of batteries, I purchased the middle tier battery and it lasted 5 years. They also have stickers on them with the date so pick the freshest one.

Johnson Control, East Penn, and Exide are the three major manufactures of batteries. Most are JC including Interstate and Diehard.

Changing or even just disconnecting your battery is sometimes trickier than it should be. On some vehicles, it'll disable the stereo and/or nav system until a security code is entered after you hook the power back up. If you don't have the code, you may have to take it to a dealership to have it done. One of my co-workers has a Kia that will refuse to start the engine again if the battery's disconnected and reconnected unless you know a code, and the dealer she bought it from won't give out the code. They try to force you to pay them to do anything that requires the battery to be disconnected.

Older cars are just so much less trouble.

I worked at a battery shop for quite a few years, we wouldn’t just sell a person a battery, we tested thier electrical system first, alternator, starter and finally load test the battery

Walmart if you buy a battery, Walmart will put it in for free. Plus the warranty is honored nationwide.
