Gain should always set up to -18DbFs (digital) equals 0Dbu (analog) ..✌🏼

Clipping from what we where taught in school was a big no no soft clipping is another topic but this was also something that turned out to be very implanted in the studios I have worked in if you clipped you where more than likely not going to be called back. But again If it is one of the phew reasons where you are allowed to "Soft Clip" that's different story (:
