Quality wise, I use the blanket thing along with an analog compressor/limiter, makes a big difference for me. Blankets and towels are great anti room reverberation despite it's unprofessional looks.

Me and my friends are making a band, were recoding vocals and guitar in a closet. The walls are covered with 3 layers of thick blankets along with the ceiling. We haven't recorded anything yet, but I feel like we're gonna get some good audio. One thing is I'm not sure where were gonna record drums but we'll figure it out.

This all comes to a compromise between the reverberation and comb filtering, really not sure which one is worse. 🙂👍

1:50 Bro, no joke, the recording without the towels sounds more open, natural and just better. At least here on youtube. The towel-recording has muted the highs and added sume weird mid-bass subharmonics, that make the recording sound muddy. Thanks for the video, it confirms my decision to get rid of my vocal booth and just record in the control room.
