Man this guy was insanely well traveled. Not many men in his time can claim to have lived in Sub-Saharan Africa, the depths of Siberia and two imperial courts and Paris.

What a bizarre and incredible life this man had. Just tells you that the possibilities of life are somewhat endless.

Another crucial contribution of Gannibal is not mentioned
The recruitment and enlistment of Generalismmo Alexander Vasiliyevich Suvorov into the Russian military.

The young Suvorov was frail and weak, and taunted by his father (A Russian General) and family friends (Russian nobility, military officers) that a military career was not cut out for the young lad.
One day the young Suvorovs intense arguments with his father who refused to let him enlist brought him the attention of Gannibal who lived nearby.

After conversing and finding an affinity with the young Suvorov, Gannibal convinced Suvorov senior and thus begins the career of one of Russia’s and indeed the Worlds greatest Captains of War

Suvorov went on to fight 70 battles and win all of them, the latter battles were fought against the French Army just prior to Napoleons reign.

In France, we have the same kind of family : lord Pailleté was the French father of général Dumas (a mulato, born from his black concubine). Dumas served alongside, and under Napoléon Bonaparte. Then Dumas had a son : Alexandre Dumas, who wrote The Three Musketeers ("les trois mousquetaires"). Alexandre Dumas's son, also named Alexandre (in french, we say "Dumas-father" and "Dumas-son" to distinguish them), was a famous writer too. =)

"Indeed, spending these formative years amongst Kings and Generals made Abram a fierce admirer of science and military engineering."

Oh you!

I wish Hollywood would get more into history like this versus doing remakes.

Gannibal turns fireworks into military weapons:
*"You know I'm something of a scientist myself."*

Not surprising that Peter elevated an African to such heights, considering he himself married a literal random peasant woman despite basically everyone in Russia being against it. The guy did whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted.

6:16 The "imposing red walls of the Kremlin" were probably not red at that time, because from the 1680s until the end of the 19 century the walls were painted white, although some towers remained red.

So, the ancestor of Tolstoy bought/stole the ancestor of Pushkin! What a twist in the Russian literature!

You forgot an important addendum to Gabbila’s story - his neighbor son was sickly but wanted to join the military. Gannibal encouraged and helped him. That boy became the most celebrated general in Czarist Russia - Generalisimo Suvorov (who also trained General Kutuzov, my ancestor, who defeated Napoleon’s Russian campaign)

Can we just appreciate the amount of effort they put into these videos for a minute?

I thought this would be about that Russian killer who ate people, Gannibal Lectorvich. I'm still impressed that this was covered though.

For me the coolest thing is how closely Tolstoy and Pushkin are connected
