Hi, as a college senior wanting to go into financial planning, is it more important to first get your licenses like Series 7, 63, and 65 or start taking classes to pass the CFP exam?

IMHO, yes, if the relationship is fiduciary and if the fees are reasonable.

One thing I'm trying to sort out in interviewing financial planners / assistance boils down to looking for guidance on the macro / planning level vs managing investments. 90+% of retirement savings are in 401k/Roth401k (& pension) i.e. held within company plans. Therefore the model of payment for assets under advisement doesn't seem to work. Planners say they will offer advise on the 401k, but as they're not getting 'paid' for it, I'm not sure how much credence to place on that statement.
What I'm looking for instead is 'navigating the waters': 401k vs Roth 401k for the next/last 8yrs of career, pension choices, social security, estate planning, looking at retiree medical/long-term care choices.... a full show on this topic, this type of investor would be good. i.e. you've been your own financial planner, you've made wise choices when judged against the Financial Order of Operations, you're on track... but now coming down to the nuts-n-bolts of finishing the marathon to financial independence / retirement.

CFA you need 3 years before that’s the tough part after your 3 exams.

I was hoping this episode was gonna be all about the way Bo initially wanted to go with it.

Brian changed the direction though 😔
