Thank you Sarah for the respect you have given our fallen heroes. It doesn't matter how long ago or how they passed. They were serving to protect our country.

Being a veteran myself, I want to thank you, Sarah, for giving those servicemen the respect and dignity that they deserve. Very well done video! 🫡

Thank you for being this story. My father was an Aviation Machinist Mate 3d class serving on a PBM. You’re a treasure of YouTube postings.

WH, I'm the Father and Son video, you mentioned in this video. I have been watching your videos for years, and hearing you mention us was amazing. I grew up in Mill Valley and we always just called it the mountain, or Tam. I was among the first mountain bikers going down the mountain in the '70s.

Great story. And I hope, its more than a longshot, that someone sees this video and gives up the personal items to family❤

Thank you for taking the time to mention each Sailor and to also research and actually tell what Rates they were.

Times pass and the families who lost their members to War and had to carry on without them are often overlooked as well. The sacrifice they made should and will be remembered and revered. Thank you for the facts.

I love these types of videos Sarah does. It allows us to pay our respects to the brave servicemen that lost their lives during their service protecting our great country. I had never heard of this accident, but now I can pay my respects to these men. Thank you WH!

Thanks for this informative video Wonderhussy. Somewhere in the tons of WWII military records the entire story of this crew and their mission is spelled out. All that matters today is that eight sailors gave their lives trying to complete their duty . Keep bringing us your tales Sarah. Stay safe. ❤❤❤

As a retired CDCR correctional officer, I can tell you that all of San Quentin's notorious past is very much in the past. California built several "Supermax" prisons in the 1990s to help alleviate the danger of housing dangerous violent felons in such relics as San Quentin and Folsom. Today San Quentin houses mostly check foregoers, drunk drivers who injured or killed someone and elderly inmates doing life. We CDCR cops who have worked at the more modern maximum-security joints refer to San Quentin and old Folsom as "Camp Snoopy's."

Thank you for your tribute to those eight men who lost their lives while serving our country during WW-2. I was born in Alameda and I was on the USS Wiltsie (DD-716) at Treasure Island, San Francisco from when I was in the Navy. Otis Redding started writing the lyrics to his epic song (Sittin On) The Dock of the Bay while staying on a houseboat in Sausalito in 1967.

Oh my gosh! I live in Las Cruces, NM and when I saw that Lt. Resley was from here, I checked and his grave is just down the road, in the same cemetery as my mother and grandparents! I must pay my respects on my next visit. Thank you!

Excellent video. I grew up in San Quentin Village in the 1940's and 1950's and have hiked up Mt. Tamalpais. My step brother and I even rode motorcycles up the railroad grade that you were walking on before it was restricted. I had heard about the plane crash when I was a kid but never new the details. Thanks for the excellent research that you did.

The old base in Alameda was the former Naval Air Station Alameda. During WWII patrol planes like the Mariner would fly from there. The base had many other planes and even aircraft carriers . Go Navy!
