Ukrainian troops withdraw from Avdiivka

Ukrainian forces have withdrawn from the eastern city of Avdiivka.

Ukrainian troops are facing major ammunition shortages, exacerbated by months of stalling in US Congress on an aid bill.

Ukraine's military chief said troops were moved to defensive positions outside the town, to avoid complete encirclement and preserve the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy supports the decision to withdraw.

However, Mr Zelensky said the move highlights the need for urgent assistance with weapons and ammunition.

This report is absolute rubbish. The reason why Ukrainian generals called a retreat is the fact that Ukrainian troops were refusing orders. The new general ordered a neo Nazi brigade into the city a few days ago. That brigade was destroyed as quick as it got there. Because they have taken so long to order a withdrawal. their troops have very little chance of escape, The paved road, if you could call it that, is under Russian fire control. The other dirt road is just a mud track. Also under Russian fire control. They have been telling everyone that the Russian troops are poorly trained and poorly equipped but you can see on video from the city that they clearly are. The city has fallen, Ukrainian troops are surrendering or being killed on the way out in a disorganized retreat. Those that have made it out are now under fie in the next village. Ukraine has built no defensive lines further back and the Russian have around 50 000 troops in that area. As for U.S and NATO munition delivery, they don't have anything left to give. Even if the U.S gave them the cash, the munitions have to be made and wouldn't get there for nearly a year and is targeted as it moves to the front. The U.S taxpayer is paying money to a government that is corrupt, much of it is stolen, all the while have no universal health care, illegal immigrants pouring over their own border, a $ 7 to $8 an hour minimum wage, crumbling infrastructure, high crime rates and ppl living in the streets in every city and town in the U.S. You want these ppl to hand over billions for this?
