Our family has loved this dish since the 1969s. My Nana didn't use hot pepper or capers but I once accidentally bought anchovies with capers and that has been my own "secret" ingredient ever since.
You bring tears to my eyes, joy to my heart and a rumble to my tummy. Grazie mille, Nonnino!

Hey Chef Pasquale! I made this last night for dinner. Delicioso! Great flavors that come together nicely. I added a bit of lemon juice to help cut the oil a little bit. Also, I fried crushed red pepper flakes with the anchovies, garlic, and capers to give it some heat. Awesome recipe! Thanks for sharing! Salute!

As a kid I eat spaghetti often, ...mostly with just butter. Joined the Army and after several years I was stationed Germany. One assignment led me to Geissen, Germany. My boss and I went to eat at an Italian restaurant. That was my first taste of Aglio e Olio. Best thing I had ever eaten. We were in the area for a week. I ate there every night. Since then (1984) I've been trying to replicate that recipe. I still eat it every week or so.

3rd generation Italian American from San Francisco: this dish is one our very favorites!!
We call it 'A little bit of Something!'
We use a mild pepper, anchovies, capers, chopped parsley, chopped garlic in 1/2 cube Butter with Olive oil. Dissolved in hot pan .. add the thin spaghetti and top with a bit of bread crumbs!!

I made this and it was great. Simple with a distinct flavor. My roommates did not enjoy it, though. Anchovy lovers are rather rare outside of Italy. But I love the flavor and its actually not too overpowering in this dish. I could have left more oil from the anchovies and been fine.
