Sweet Leaf stevia has the following ingredients
Inulin, stevia leaf extract and silica
It’s also less sweet than erythritol. It comes in packets you can take with you.
I use one packet a day in coffee.
My desserts are an ounce of sharp, aged cheese(no carb) and sour pickles! LOL
Coffee is my only sweet treat, weird how my taste buds changed as I ate more meat.
I also stay under 20 grams of carbs a day with sauerkraut, pickles and an occasional olive as my fruit/vegetables.

I am a former plant based bread addict who is healthy, happy and effortlessly maintaining a 40 pound weight loss for 2 years with fasting insulin of 5. A1C in low 5s.
Wean your self from those keto treats and desserts and your body will learn to reject them, but it takes time.
I am now a fatty meat zealot. People just shake their heads warning me about my impending heart attack. Sigh

I am a very long-term type 1 diabetic, and I have been adding many tips picked up from your site. many have helped my health. When it comes to eating/diet ideas, Maybe blending ideas for all diabetics is wise I have lost weight and feel better. I think medical advice for diabetes is less helpful than advice from other people of what works for them is best for managing blood sugar. I have been lower than 5.1 blood sugar for around 3 years

Cephalic phase insulin response. Look it up. It's very interesting that a sweet taste, an appealing aroma, a sound (like a soda can opening), or even a TV commercial can trigger an insulin response in most people. It doesn't necessarily have to be sweet, but the sweeter the stronger the response.

I have found that the more I go without sweet food, the less I want sweets

Thanks, Dennis. All true. I use liquid Splenda, no maltodextrin. Learned that years ago. Works for me.

My husband is not diabetic, but he used the mink fruit and erythritol powder in his coffee. It raised his blood sugar tremendously. Good thing we figured it out! He just uses organic cane sugar and hus bkood pressure was back to normal in one week.

The loose stools associated with non-sugar sweeteners are the result of the sweeteners interferring with gut bacteria. Science is discovering the importance of the well balanced gut biome in overall health. On another note, I notice that artificial sweeteners cause me to feel more hungry so that I tend to overeat. I know this and attempt to will myself to not eat more low carb foods than I should. It does make it difficult for me, and I don’t always win that battle. For me, it is better to avoid them most of the time and not deal with the increased hunger. I do use them for constipation, but it takes a few days for my gut bacteria to get back in balance. Again, it is mostly not worth it for me. I am an athlete and I notice my performance is affected by upsetting my gut bacteria, so it seems. Thanks for all your great content and encouragement. When people ask me about their diabetes, I refer them to your channel. Good Work!

I do use artificial sweeteners daily 😳Usually a small diet coke with lunch and a flavored water type drink at night. (don't like plain water 🧐)... With that usage I do not notice any imbalances in gut bacteria, no upset stomach, no diarrhea, no blood sugar spikes. With the A1C holding at 4.8 I'm not gonna worry about it's continued daily use. 😎

Making homemade stevia extract is super simple and cheap. You and Benedicta should try it!

I use liquid splenda or sucralose exclusively. It is the only sweetener that tastes good to me. I have had no side effects to date.

I get off the sweeteners periodically but wind up going back. I imagine it is best to stop consuming sweet tasting things altogether to fully control carb addiction. Pretty sure it does not provoke insulin. Insulin is stimulated in the upper intestine. That is why gastric bypass "works" when the whitch doctors used to remove that with most of the stomach.

While. I have always had a sweet tooth and absolutely love chocolate and candy, taking this path I have given that up as a daily routine. Since I went low carb and sugar I have really don't have that desire any longer! Drink ACV with water before meals and water during the day. Every now and then I'll have a flavored sparkling water. It's not that often that I have a dessert other than some pecans and coffee after supper.

When I want a treat, I make brown butter bites. They're like chocolates to me. Lol

The problem is we are always testing for glucose, instead of testing for insulin release also.
I also heard that usually a packet of artificial sugar substitute can cause a bigger insulin response than real sugar.
Maybe your glucose level will read low, but you burn out your pancreas.
Unbelievable cycle, you think your doing the right thing, …but it’s still wrong!
That’s why there are skinny people still sick with pancreatic cancer, etc.
It’s hard as heck, …but Better to just stay away from the sweeteners.
There are no short cuts!
“My two cents”
