I’m brazilian (nationality) I’m Latina (ethnicity) and I’m white (skin color). I don’t give two f*cks about what USA thinks or how they label us.

When I learned that Irish people weren't considered white back in the day I learned Americans' idea of race is complete BS.

For the 1000th time, being Latino IS NOT AN EFFING RACE, especially when we don't have the racial segregation of the US. I was born and raised in Argentina and I suppose I look white, but like most people here, my background is very mixed. Anya is not a woman of color but she's a Latina, while people like Rachel Zegler or Jenna Ortega may be of color but aren't "actual" Latinas.

This whole racial stuff is so dumb. Can't we appreciate people for their personality instead of ethnicity?

If Anya Taylor-Joy is POC then why wasn't she cast as Snow-white?

As an Ecuadorian American, I will say again:

Latino is not a race. You can be any race on earth and still be Latino if you were raised in the culture. You can be a freckled ginger and still be Latino. You can be Asian and still be Latino. You can be black and still be Latino. Latino people have heritage from everywhere. Being Latino is a culture and has nothing to do with race or genetic makeup.

You can see from my profile picture, I am white. I am still Latino. Anya Taylor Joy is White. She is still Latina. Being Latino doesn’t make you automatically “diverse” genetically from most WASP Americans. It can but doesn’t have to. What being Latino makes you is culturally different.

The term “diverse” is relative. White people are a bit rarer in parts of Latin America. Being Latino doesn’t make you a person of color, it makes you culturally have a connection to Latin America.

The fact that latin american is not even a RACE🤡 You can be latin american but you are white, black, yellow and I don’t how many races are out there🤣
My great grandfather was german, I have a german last name but I look like your average latin american woman stereotype WE ARE A MIXED of races. Especially in countries like Argentina or Paraguay (that has been built by immigrants basically, most of the Chaco is full of germans🤣) In history books we learn that the Paraguayan nation was born by the mix between the Guarani natives and the Spanish colonizers. So most of us are at least half white or whatever.

It’s amazing to me that people who don’t want to be “labeled”, want to label everyone.

being hispanic or latino is a cultural heritage, not a race, you can be white, black, native, or asian and still be hispanic or latino

As a non-American, I've never known any developed country to be so obsessed with race as the US. Even most third world countries don't care as much about race as America does

Dude said being from Zambia didn't make her African in any way.
You are confusing skin color with nationality my guy....

They don't really consider Spanish/Portuguese decent as white I guess

In the US people prioritize skin color instead of talent. If I were to win an award because of my skin color I would be offended.

They did the same thing to Antonio Banderas. He was very surprised to learn he wasn't white.

People need to realize "pers9n of color" just means "colored people". Stop acting someone's appearance is important.

American views on race being widely out of line globally example #345236. This one is a nice sequel to Antonio Banderas being referred to as a PoC. Just very strange terminology all around.

In Brazil call someone a “person of color” is absolutely racist term bc it was how African slaves are called back then. Nobody uses it. We are Latinos bc Brazil is located in Latin America and Portuguese is a Latin derived language. We can be white (wide part of population), pardo (mixed with brown skin), black, indigenous (smallest part of population), Asians. I don’t understand how a USA person look at Gisele Bundchen and Pelé and put them under the same label.

I just wish we'd stop caring about race so much.
