5 EV Tire Myths DISCHARGED

Modern EVs are battered on a daily basis, by the elements themselves but also by misinformation. While these myths range from noise to weight to performance, there's one aspect that unites them all - the tires, so we sent Miss GoElectric to the Electrify Expo in Long Beach, California to set the record straight and discharge 5x common myths to do with EVs and their tyres.

Why no 225/50R18 EV tires for BMW i4? Hankook needs to expand range of sizes available.

I had the same model and size tire on my Cadillac ATS and Tesla Model 3. The ATS wore them out in 20k miles but on the Model 3 they lasted more than 30k miles. The only thing that was different is the ATS ran them at 36 PSI and the Tesla runs them at 42 PSI. Both cars wore them nice and level across the tread with no extra edge wear but the ATS just wore them out faster. Discount Tire did give me credit because of the tread wear warranty but it was a lot of trouble to get them replaced that often. I'm happy with the Model 3 so far.
