Im deep in the linux rabbit hole and have zero hate for ubuntu. I actually use it as my daily driver on my work laptop because of how solid it is. Theres a distro for every person and ubuntu is for people who just want things to work. I use cachyos for gaming on my desktop, but i wouldn't trust it as my daily driver. I think linux elitists forget that theres people besides them in the linux community.

I have no problem with ubuntu, removing snap and adding flatpak is easy, and loved the yaru theme.

Arch self destructed by updates again btw.

For me Ubuntu just works. But funny how people hate it for things they like in other distros. Dislike GNOME? Then why you use Fedora with GNOME? Dislike forced snaps? Why do you like pre-installed flathub? Unstable distro? Mint likes to randomly crash as well, but it's the best for newbies, right?

I must say at one point I was almost convinced by haters to hate Ubuntu. The thing is most popular recommendations make me either jump through a lot of hoops to make their distro of choice work for me. With Ubuntu I install it and it works. Only lack of snap support hurting the experience, but Windows still covers for me what Linux can't at all, while Ubuntu can handle what I need it for.

P.S. Dislike and blacklist for AI voice. Really tired of this.

You can literally just install a new window manager/desktop environment! That shouldn't be a deal breaker or even a concern.

I used Linux Mint, but I had to install Mysql in my conputer and Mint cant install it, so had to change to Ubunto and everything work well.

If you're still using Ubuntu.

Don't miss out Ubuntu 20th Anniversary (With comebacks: Such as Warty wallpaper, Warty Startup sound and Warty Brown color).

But every distro has positives and negatives, it should depend on what you like and what works for you.

Ubuntu Unity and first days of snaps was a mess. Now snaps are actually quite good... and Unity is long forgotten.
I use Kubuntu. Cannot stand Gnome.

Ubuntu would be just fine if they would provide an easy way to opt of snap packages. Gnome is what it is.

Yet everyone who just use their machines to get on with their lives and not as a toy, use Ubuntu

I used Ubuntu for a week and it’s great for its wide array of support and daily usage both recreationally and productively and the gnome environment. I still agree about the snaps and some of the features missing for ease of use. At the end of the day you find a distro that’s right for you.

I believe the desktop is not the issue with the performance, other distributions when GNOME is installed all run really smooth. It's all sorts of other things that make it slow.
Note that you should actually pronounce the G in GNOME, as it is a real acronym and name, it's not like the lower case word gnome.

I have Mint on my second computer. It's basically Ubuntu without the crap and with a traditional desktop interface.

In my Ryzen 7 computer Ubuntu runs as fast as XFCE, and in any scenarios even faster than this same computer with XFCE. I still dont understand well Why it happens

I don't "hate" them but I'm "ignored" them. :)

Same reason why people "hate" Nicklback. Once you go mainstream you "sold out". Linux has always and will always be the underdog when it comes to the desktop space. And almost always, the underdog will be the one people vote for. This is the same when it comes to distros.

For me, I hate icons, that's why I use Mint Cinnamon. I want text lists in alphabetical order for everything except the panel at the bottom - files and programs - not a screen full of giant icons. And you need to learn how to pronounce Linux and Mate and Debian. What is this, AI?
