Christianity will produce a different culture, or culture will produce a different Christianity.

You're right Gavin... Early Christians don't worship through entertainment

The congregation I was raised in, confirmed in, baptized my children in, and recently returned to after much prayer, is the Congregational Church, of which I was baptized. It is a member of The United Church of Christ, while autonomous in its worship, practices, and views. I did not realize until very recently how liberal the UCC is, taking stands on political issues outside the Church, claiming to better the world. I was shocked to learn of it not having much knowledge of Church history or "denominational" differences. It has been interesting to learn about these topics. However, I truly love the simple worship style of my church, and the community in Christ, doing much charity work within and throughout the broader area. The sermons align with the core beliefs of Protestant Christianity or what I have come to understand of it

God meets you where you're at. I am a member of an Episcopal church, and indeed there are priests who you wonder if they actually believe, but there are also great priests who clearly preach the Gospel. I guarantee you a LOT more people at least hear the gospel and start reading the Bible because they first feel welcomed in our church.

Imagine how much more we could help our brothers and sisters if we all took Matthew 7:1-5 as a personal message directly from God to specifically ourselves.

I consider myself both evangelical and orthodox as a Christian, and I have conservative social beliefs. However I believe utterly in "one body, many parts."

I think we all have our high places that we place above God. For some those may be sexual. Yet God still wants to reach every one of us.

God's mercy looks unfair to us. Many of us are the brother of the Prodigal son - furious that the father forgives even his wayward brother.

The Liberal Protestant churches exist to reach those who wouldn't step into the Catholic Church, Orthodox Church or what I'd refer to as orthodox evangelical Protestant churches - the ones I identify with most.

But God wants to reach everyone, including those who could not bring themselves to join any church which is unyielding on issues like sexuality.

I read “cafeteria” and heard “fruits” and made me hungry.

Our Lord Jesus took a hard line against divorce. He was the inventor of Holy Communion, so I believe that we should withhold it from those who divorce and simulate remarriage. Notice that I haven’t actually stated my own view on divorce.
