I can honestly confirm. I started writing songs about a month after journaling. I’ve gotten quite a few good ones since. Please, do this

I find this difficult to start doing, easy to continue, but hard to return to after a break

Lyrics you asked for Proffesor:
If I was the gardener
I'd put all the plants inside
I'd give them time and water
But the water would make them cry
I'd put them in an empty vase
Then fill it up and run away
Then watch from far away
I'd watch from far away

And once in awhile I'd come back and see
What the plant did and what it'll do to me
I'd get scared and start to scream
"What did you do to me?"

And when its grown all big and strong
I'd play for it a happy song
I'd tell it everything I did wrong
I'd tell it everything it did right

But what if I told you
After all of this
I'd drink all of its water
And tell it goodbye with a kiss
I'd watch it wither and turn brown
I'd start to cry so I won't drown
But there's too much water to swallow
So I fill my lungs and cry as I drown

I’ve tried writing songs before but I always find it so hard or it doesn’t come out how I wanted it. I think I’m gonna try this thanks for the tip

True. This is the first thing we started doing in my first songwriting class at MTSU and it really does help. We did 5 pages a week of observational writing, sometimes just stream of conciousness.

I don’t know why, but for some reason, I cannot write on paper! I’ll always come up with my best ideas when I’m writing on my phones notes

This is very true. I recently got a 33 line notebook with 100 pages. The reason its 33 is important. That's enough for 2 16 bar verses, on 2 12 and one 8 bar verse. And now I just have a HUGE lyric bank with 30+ verses to use whenever I can lay down chords for them.

Thanks for making these videos helping with songwriting. I wrote a song for the first time in months after your last live!

What if my siblings start snooping through my journals? How can I hide the journals?

Well, I actually have more than 5 songs that I've already finished writing and for now I'm focusing in making the music and sounds. Hugs from Panama!

I know this is true because the other day i got the urge to just spill my guts on on a piece of paper (which i never do), next thing you know i was describing what i was feeling in these amazing metaphors which I've always wondered how artists even thought of in the first place! Jot what you're feeling down, it helps!

I haven't done a lot of songwriting. I'm in highschool and I go to an art school and I'm "majoring" in creative writing. Songwriting/poetry is not my strongest subject, I'm more a fiction person. However I can understand this lesson a lot. It's not about how good it is. Just WRITE. I saw a quote once that read "the water does not flow until the faucet is turned on." Get it out. Even if you think it's terrible and hate every second of it, get it out. It will get better, I promise. Happy writing (of all genres)! ;)

I dont have righters block, my wrighter just hates the clock!
It will not let me sleep I guess I`ll sleep when I am dead!
And sometimes death seems better thet the migrane in my head!

Do your tips only work for song lyrics? I'm a poet, I'm not very musically talented, but I do like writing poetry and lyrics. I figured since lyrics and poetry are similar that your tips would work. Thanks whom ever answers.
