Показать описание
Roger Moore, the third iteration of James Bond, has passed away from cancer at 89. He is survived by his wife, Kristina Tholstrup, and three children.
Moore was born in London in 1927 and worked as a model in the early 1950s and then signed a seven year contract with MGM. After Sean Connery stepped down as Bond Moore starred as the suave and British spy in the 1973 hit, Live and Let Die. He served as Bond for the next twelve years and six films, making him the longest running 007. When he turned over the role in 1985 to Timothy Dalton he was 58.
"Being eternally known as Bond has no downside," Moore told the Guardian. "People often call me 'Mr Bond' when we're out and I don't mind a bit. Why would I?"
Moore was also known for his humanitarian work, and became a Unicef goodwill ambassador in 1991. He was knighted in 1993 for his charity efforts.
