Sea surface temperatures have been generally trending warmer each year, but 2023-2024 saw a huge increase over the previous record holder.

Maiya May explains what these higher temperatures mean for our world's oceans, especially coral reefs.

That graph of ocean temps is absolutely gutting though ...

The same was said about the Great Barrier Reef. It’s now regenerating being that coral is a living being

This was largely due to the clouds created by large ship pollution being regulated out right?

The clouds were created because of a compound that was bad for the environment but the clouds themselves reflected a lot of heat. From my understanding

If I'm reading the graph properly, then all the recent years are in the bright area at the top of the graph. 2022 - 2023 was cooler than most recent years, but 2023 - 2024 was the hottest on record. Is this correct?

Maybe when El niño ends, we will return to gradually warming in the ocean, but it makes me wonder how it will be in the next ENSO cycle

I have never heard such bull shit! Coral is flourishing in equitorial water, which is much warmer!
