Notching Tubes at Steep Angles with No Tube Notcher

I’ve been following and enjoying Justin the Fabricator’s videos on tube fab basics/roll cage building. When it comes to notching tubes manually, I was struggling to get my cut angles correct on the first try for steep (not 90 degrees) intersections based on his instructions. After some trial and error I think I figured out a small clarification to go along with his method that seems to make my cuts come out much closer the first time. The effect is more pronounced the steeper the angles. We’ll call it, the Horizon Effect until somebody tells me it’s wrong, or it already has a name (you dummy).

About what angle would you start using this tweak? Great video.

would rotating the tube change the angle of the other end. Say there's a bend in that tube so it can't rotate. i feel like this would still work out alright though. great discovery as i have the same issue on steep angles.

How do you know how long to make the horizontal line? Is it half the circumference of the pipe? I watched the video too and not clear.

It would've been great if you ended the video with you actually having made the cuts and being able to show the results.
