I've had problems with this one..hence the reupload.
1) I pronounced Joseph Pulitzer weird. sorry.
2) I mixed the Teller amendement with the Platt amendment, two closely related but different things.

Great video. I loved your approach in explaining the historical context leading up to this momentous event.

I learned that the United States had nuclear bombs in Turkey and that's why the Soviet Union put nuclear bombs in Cuba.

Excellent presentation. A minor correction circa 1:58 into the video: Roosevelt was the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, serving under (and often clashing with) Secretary John D. Long at the time of the Spanish-American War. Roosevelt served as Acting Secretary during Long's temporary absence when the war broke out, however, and used (arguably abused) this position to issue a wide-ranging series of orders for the war. The most notable of these was ordering Commodore Dewey's Asiatic Fleet to take Manilla, portending the subsequent American occupation of the Philippines and forcible suppression of the Philippine Insurgency (no Teller Amendment here!)

It is good to hear the history behind US/Cuba relations. In my own channel, I have a video about the geography of US/Cuba relations. Geography is a big factor as well.

Always remember that while you're watching this video, eating, sleeping.. someone is getting tortured by a government because their ideas oppose.

I know it's minor and there's nothing that can really be done now, but I want to show that I was paying attention: typo @07:21 - 'Miltary'

Cuba wasn't exactly opposed to the idea of reopening relations, America could've started relations whenever they wanted but it was such a non issue no one bothered. Obama got bored one day and decided to go to Cuba, then realized he couldn't so he changed that.
