In the US, by the late 1930s and early 1940s, swing music had become the most popular musical style and remained so for several years, until it was supplanted in the late 1940s by the pop standards sung by the crooners who grew out of the big band Swing Era tradition. Bandleaders such as the Dorsey Brothers often helped launch the careers of vocalists who went on to popularity as solo artists, such as Frank Sinatra, who rose to fame as a singer during this time.In the 1940s, pure jazz began to become more popular, along with the blues, with artists like Ella Fitzgerald ("A-Tisket, A-Tasket") and Billie Holiday ("Strange Fruit") becoming nationally successful.

Today my grandmother passed out today at the age of 91, she was born in 1930 and she told me when I was younger that this was the music she used to listen when she was a kid/teenager. I will miss her a lot.

I listen to all the music from Bing Crosby to Ed Shearan, and everyone in between . At 75 years old I think I am lucky to have enjoyed all this music, from listening to it on the radio to today with my iPhone and AirPods. If I had to pick out special ones it would be Enya, Doris Day and Roy Orbison. Loads of runners up, example Johnny Mathis.

I was born in February of 1941. These songs bring back so many memories along with tears of by-gone days. Being the last member of my first family it hurts my heart not to have someone to enjoy these great songs with.
